I guess in the overall scheme of things, it is insignificant, but Britney Spears has another worry on her shoulders – her Mercedes has been impounded. Lt. David Grimes of the LAPD said that the car was impounded because the pop star has abandoned the car in the middle of a Brentwood road Monday night after it had a flat tire.
Britney left the car after the flat and she was given a lift by one of the photographers who had been photographing her. The Mercedes was towed by Quicksilver Towing Company and is being held in the official police garage tow yard. It will cost the Britster $104 in towing fees and $32 for each day it remains in the yard. If the car is not retrieved within 30 days, it will be up for auction. Lt. Grimes said that all Britney needs to do is show up and pay the fees, that she does not have any fines or citations against her.
Taylor Hicks won the fifth season of “American Idol,” but he has lost his recording contract with J Records. J Records publicist Liz Morentin said, “Taylor is going to record on his own for the next album.” Taylor’s self-titled album was released last December and reached #2 on the charts. However, it quickly slid down the charts. It ended up selling 699,000, short of the million mark that other previous Idol winners such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood had obtained.
J Records signs the singers for the show, but they also dropped another Idol recently – Ruben Studdard. Ruben was released from his contract late last year, but still has his contract with 19 Entertainment, which is managed by Simon Fuller. Ruben is reportedly working on his next album. His previous album with J Records, “The Return,” only sold 236,000 copies.
