Britney Spears didn’t have to give up physical custody of her two young sons until tomorrow at noon, according to a judge’s order. However, the pop princess chose to hand them off to Kevin Federline’s bodyguard yesterday. (Poor kids.)
Actually, according to video shot by the masses of paparazzi that hound her on a daily basis, Spears took 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James through the drive-thru at a Carl’s Jr. in L.A. at 12:02 p.m. yesterday and surrendered the boys to K-Fed’s bodyguard three minutes later. (No word on whether the burger run was for Brit or the boys.)
Then, she was reportedly off to tan at Epitome, her favorite Bel Air salon. A few hours later Spears was snapped leaving the Department of Motor Vehicles, where after waiting more than five years to do so, she attempted to obtain a valid California driver’s license. Unfortunately, Spears was unsuccessful in getting one, presumably because she was unable to provide a valid out of state license. Spears reportedly has a valid Louisiana license, which she has flashed each time she has been pulled over by police in L.A., but neglected to hand it over yesterday.
And, today, details on why a judge decided her sons would be better off with their wannabe rapper father emerged.
Apparently, Ms. Meltdown has failed to obey any of the requirements issued by the judge proceeding over her custody case: she didn’t meet a drug counselor; she refused to submit to drug testing; she didn’t enroll in parenting classes; and she failed to sign the judge’s order.
Brit’s attorney told news reporters, as of yesterday, he could not prove to the judge that his client complied with any of his orders. Specifically, the order that mandated both Brit and K-Fed have valid driving licenses.
The pop star’s attorney also addressed rumors that Spears failed a drug test.
According to Brit’s lawyer: “There’s no evidence that she actually failed a test.”
However, in the eyes of the court failure to take the test is equivalent to not passing the test.
I can’t imagine any mom would be celebrating the fact that a judge ruled she was not fit to be physically present in her kids’ lives; but then again perhaps Brit went to top off her tan so she would look good in her driver’s license picture. (Not that she was issued one yesterday anyway.) Regardless, the reaction to Brit’s fate seems to be affecting her friends (does she have any left) more than it has her. One newspaper is reporting that the former Mouseketeer’s pals fear the judge’s decision to award custody of Sean and Jayden will drive Brit to suicide.
Another report alleges that Britney’s mother Lynne Spears is “extremely concerned” about the star’s mental state, with one source adding: “We are all fearing for Britney and this will be the final straw for her.”
From bad to worse for the Brit-ster… where does it go from here?
