Brittany Murphy Breaks Off Engagement

Poor Brittany Murphy, it seems she is always unlucky in love. If you remember, several years ago, she was involved in a highly publicized romance with Ashton Kutcher. The two met and started their romance while filming “Just Married.” Suddenly, they seemed to be in front of every camera in Hollywood, the epitome of “young and in love.” Then, almost as quickly as the romance began, it ended. And it did not end nicely either. Brittany threw a few ugly remarks Ashton’s way on a talk show, but he had already moved on to dating current wife, Demi Moore.

Not too long after the breakup, she announced her engagement to Jeff Kwatinetz, a talent manger. In a romantic gesture, Kwatinetz proposed at a silent movie theater in Los Angeles and bought her a big huge rock from Neil Lane Jewelry, but the ring was hardly warm on her finger before that engagement ended. The couple broke up after just four months, but it was announced that the split was amicable.

Brittany met Joe Macaluso, a production assistant, while she was filming 2004’s Little Black Book. They were engaged by New Year’s Eve last year, but when asked recently about wedding plans, Brittany was illusive. Two days ago, Brittany’s publicist told People Magazine that the couple had decided to end their engagement, but remain friends.

So, it looks like Brittany will not be getting married anytime soon. She is very busy, having one film come out later this year and five next year. Perhaps true love will come when she least expects it.

Brittany Murphy Facts:

She was originally slated to star in a movie about Janis Joplin, but the film was never made because of a battle over the song rights.

She fronted a band called “Blessed Soul” in the early 1990s.

At the 2002 MTV Music Awards, she sang as part of the opening act.
