There are still so many things you have to do and the clock keeps ticking away. Let’s find that notebook again (and that pen) and get to work. What else can you put in your holiday notebook? Lend me an ear, my friends.
Parties and Entertaining
What would the holiday season be without festivities? The problem may be keeping track of all the entertaining you will be doing during this crazy and joyous time of year. Include in this section any information about guest lists, menus, seating arrangements and activity information.
Menus and Recipes
What would any holiday celebration be like without food? This section of your notebook should get special attention and be organized by holiday. Menus for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc, can all be stored individually for easy retrieval (if you don’t live in my house).
Receipts
Ah, receipts! Those little pieces of paper that seem to disappear down an abyss when you need them to return that pair of gloves with the extra finger and that sweater that comes down to your ankles. Note too the store’s return policy if you can as that will make your life easier as well. Inevitably, something breaks, doesn’t fit or work properly. It’s a part of life, especially for those of us over forty.
Gift ideas and Gift Lists
Write down the gifts you have in mind for all your relatives and friends. Keep a record of what you give to avoid re-gifting, which can be very embarrassing. I once attended a party where a woman gave the hostess the same gift the hostess had given her the year before. Not only was the leather tote bag red; so were a few faces.
We are not finished with our holiday notebook, but we will be soon. Set it up as far as we have gone today and stay tuned until tomorrow for part three; that is if you can still find everything. I have been lucky with my notes so far.
Happy organizing!
