Budget Scrappers Unite!

I can’t afford to purchase scrapbook supplies whenever I please. My budget allows for very conservative monthly shopping sprees that consist mainly of re-stocking basic supplies and maybe, if I am lucky, I’ll spend a few bucks on a few seasonal embellishments that are too cute to resist. I am also extremely diligent about using coupons and waiting for sales in order to keep my scrapbook spending in check.

In these tough economic times there are probably tens of thousands of other scrappers who have been forced to employ the same money-saving tricks. If you know a bunch of frugal scrappers, them you might be able to save even more on scrapbook materials. Instead of commiserating about the state of your scrapbooking spending, or lack thereof, take action and buy in bulk. The next time you are with your scrapping buddies suggest going in on stacks of cardstock, generic stickers and patterned paper and splitting the cost. You can save a bundle by sharing the supplies, especially if you consider how much a single sheet of stickers cost. Eyelets, ribbon, glitter and sequins are other embellishments that can be split evenly if you plan to buy in bulk and share.

Another super way to save on supplies is to work at a scrapbooking shop. People joke about me applying to work at our local scrapbooking store, but there is some serious savings to be had if I ever landed a job there. Even part-time employees qualify for discounts and I would be able to network with scrapbook supply manufacturers and connect with others who share my passion and possibly start a buy in bulk club.

Finally, one of the best ways to save on scrapbook supplies is to become an independent consultant for a direct sales company, such as Creative Memories, Memory Works or I Remember When. Not only will you qualify for a fabulous discount on merchandise, but also you can earn extra cash if you conduct home parties and sell products to your guests.
