In our yard there have been all sorts of little houses springing up. Just talk a walk around our property, and you just might spot a few.
As you exit our house and travel up the slate paved walk, don’t look down. That is because if you keep your eyes ahead and open, you just might see something curious. Just up ahead, there just might be a quaint little cottage tucked beneath a tree. It had a door with a doorknob and a stately tree out front. These fairies like to build there abodes in cozy nooks. Their homes are made of natural materials gathered around, and the houses tend to blend in to the landscape.
If you turn up the driveway a bit to go get the mail for us (thank you so much), look to your left. There just might be another dwelling tucked under a rock. This one has its own little paved walk and an outdoor fireplace. Peeking inside the home, you might see a cozy couch made out of a seed pod.
These houses are so much fun to spot, although I am afraid that I don’t expect them to last long. A good thunderstorm or a strong wind just might set at least one roof tumbling. The fairies also must watch for natural and curious creatures that live in the environment, such as croaking toads and furry little chipmunks. I suppose that the fairy magic will keep them somewhat safe.
Still, it must be difficult to build a home without the benefit of nails or glue when you are very, very small. That is why I encourage you to help the fairies out a bit by offering to build them a few houses. After all, we as humans are so much bigger, and a simple house can take no more than five or ten minutes to construct. You may find their gratitude in the form of pretty flowers or feathers left at your doorstep, or as a decrease in the harmful bug population in your garden.
Would you like to build a fairy house? I can share some easy and simple ways to build outdoor fairy houses using only natural materials found in the yard.
