Bunny Books by Rick Walton

I admit it; I’m a bunny girl. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my birthday comes close to Easter and so everyone gives me bunny presents, but I’m a fanatic. When I saw these adorable books by Rick Walton, I had to snatch them up.

First is “Bunny Day,” a telling time book. At eight o’clock in the morning, Father calls the bunnies and tells them it’s time to get up and get moving. It’s time for breakfast! The bunnies come downstairs, dressed in footie pajamas and yawning. At nine o’clock, they get dressed and make their beds, wash their faces and clean up their room. At ten they work in the garden, and at eleven they get to play.

We follow them all day, seeing them paint pictures, run races, and work together as a happy family. In each picture we see a clock, showing us the time so we can co-ordinate it with the activity that’s being performed.

The very best part of this sweet book is the illustrations. The bunnies are just as cute as they can be; illustrator Paige Miglio is one talented lady. (Published in 2002 by Harper Collins.)

Our other book is “Bunny School.” Written in a rhyming format, as was “Bunny Day,” we go to school with the bunnies and see all the things they get to do. They tell their mommies goodbye in the hallway and then hurry in for show and tell. You can’t go wrong with music time, recess and snack time, and science is fun too, learning how a plant grows. The bunnies go on a field trip and paint pictures. It’s so much fun to go to school! (Published in 2005 by Harper Collins and also illustrated by Paige Miglio.)

Whether your own little bunny is getting ready for school, learning how to tell time, or just looking for a picture book to read with you, these books will be just right.
