Burning Calories with Dancing

So apparently I am behind on the times. I recently blogged about how Zumba (the latest dance fitness craze) is finally coming to the video game world.

In February, 2012, “Zumba Fitness Rush” is coming to Xbox 360. However, I should have done my homework. Apparently Zumba has already hit the video game world. In fact, I was complaining that nothing was available for my particular video game system, Nintendo Wii. But apparently last year “Zumba Fitness” had already been available for not only the Wii but Xbox 360 and PS3.

Well I might be a bit behind on the times but now I can try and catch up…which brings me to some good news. If you happen to already be a fan of “Zumba Fitness,” then you will be happy to know that on November 15th, “Zumba Fitness 2” will be ready for sale.

It is a sequel that will include 34 new songs, allows up to four players and provides customizable workouts in increments of 30, 45 and 60 minutes.

Not only does it offer some Latin flair, but it also includes other dance styles such as (my personal favorite) Bollywood. Another one is Axe, something I am not familiar with but apparently it is a dance style that comes from Brazil.

I am already a fan of the “Just Dance” video game, so I have a feeling this will be just as enjoyable. In fact, I might have to give myself an early Christmas present and buy it.

Dance is a great way to burn calories and have fun at the same time. If you are a fan of “Dancing with the Stars” you know this to be true. Many overweight stars have lost lots of weight being on that show. Kirstie Alley lost a ton of weight when she was on last season.

This current season we are able to see Ricki Lake shedding pounds. Of course, their routines are definitely more rigorous than most of us would partake in but the point is that dancing really can be a great way to burn calories.

Dance away…
