Buying a Computer on eBay

I have been in the market for a Powerbook for years, but given their two to three thousand dollar price tag I haven’t been able to purchase one just yet. Recently I started looking at used PowerBooks on eBay and was very impressed with the interface they have for purchasing used computers.

I actually purchased an extremely old Powerbook off of eBay a few years ago, a laptop which I love, but it doesn’t have enough power to do what I need it to do.

If you’re in the market for a new computer, but don’t have the money to purchase a brand new one from the store, I would highly recommend giving eBay a try.

From the eBay homepage you can type in the type of computer you are interested in. Once you are taken to a search results page you will be given options like Product Family, Processor Type, Processor Speed, Screen Size, and Condition.

If you’re not particularly computer savvy then you absolutely need someone to help you look for computers on eBay who is. On eBay you can find some great deals on some pretty current technology. There are also people on the site trying to sell old clunky computers that won’t more than likely do what you need them to do.

Another thing to look out for on eBay are scammers. Computers are high dollar items, which make them ideal for people who are trying to take your money and run. Look to buy from someone with a high seller rating on eBay, and someone who has successfully completed several transactions.

You also want to make sure the computer you are purchasing is guaranteed not to be DOA. DOA stands for “Dead on Arrival”. When someone guarantees the computer not to be DOA, they are promising that it will arrive to you in working order.

Like any ebay purchase, or high dollar purchase it is important to be cautious when shopping for a computer on eBay. If you do it right however you can get some excellent deals!
