There can be a huge difference in prices as well as quality in furniture, so it pays to shop around. It’s worth time to go to several places and compare prices, warranties on the workmanship, delivery times, etc.
You might want to consider whether in arm chairs you want recliners or rockers or even one of each. Mick prefers the recliner. I find them uncomfortable and would never use the reclining action. I much prefer a rocker, so a suite that had one of each or that could do both would be best for us. Be aware manufacturers may charge extra to make things different to what is on the shop floor and that could bump up the price considerably.
Mechanism on the recliners is something you need to check carefully. The one with a handle is a far more secure mechanism and less likely to break than the circular type, as we discovered years ago when we bought recliner chairs.
Make sure you know what the warranty is and exactly what it covers. Does it have a ten year warranty on the wood and structure but not on recliner mechanisms or on fabrics?
Size is important for the size of your room and your needs. In a previous house we had a lounge room so big we ended up going for two three seater sofas plus the two armchairs. This meant we could seat eight comfortably. For a large lounge room it was ideal, but it would swamp a smaller lounge room, making it look over crowded and cluttered. Also think of usage. We regularly held bible study and other groups in our home, so the more comfy seating for people the better.
For a small room you might need a smaller sofa, maybe only a two seater or think about a corner lounge. The utilize space well and don’t look as intrusive and give a cleaner line in the room than a conventional suite.
