BYU Football

My dad is one die-hard Cougar fan. Every year he purchases ticket to the BYU football games. For this reason as the cool weather approaches, my memory wanders back to the days of sitting in the stands, and watching the football game progress.

I went to my first football game before I was a year old. Of course I do not remember it, but my mom said she spent most of the time wandering through the stadium, because I wasn’t happy. As I grew older I have memories that I will never forget. I loved looking across the stadium to see the Y on the mountain. The mountain always gave me a sense of security.

The trips to Provo were always fun. It was a good time to spend with my dad and talk a little bit about what was going on. We never talked on the way home, because my dad always listed to the post-game show. He was always interested in the recap and the comments from the players and coaches.

At halftime we would go and stand in line for concessions. We often got Milk-Duds or cinnamon bears. I don’t eat either of those candies without thinking about the special time I spent with my dad each year. I went with my dad during the glory days of BYU football. (He would be upset at me for saying that, because each year he tells me that the team is going to do great). I remember long passes, lots of cheers and standing to sing the fight song. In one memorable game against Air Force Stacy Corley took the kick off in for two touchdowns.

Although I live too far away to attend BYU football games anymore, I will always remember the excitement and fun that accompanied the football games. As the leaves begin to change and the cool air sets in, it brings back happy memories. I am ready to stand and sing the fight song one more time! Go Cougars!
