What is the Cabbage Soup Diet?
The name alone defines the diet. It really is that simple. It is a diet where you basically eat cabbage soup in an attempt to lose weight fast. The diet is not recommended by anyone with a medical background or interested in healthy weight loss because it is a short term fix for a long term problem. It also puts the dieter in a position of eating dangerously low calories. Exercise is not recommended on this diet due to the low calorie intake.
The claim is that one will lose 10 pounds in 7 days. Just think about that for one moment. Let me repeat, 10 pounds in 7 days. Does that sound even close to healthy? It may sound like a miracle. It may sound like the perfect solution to fit into that little black dress. But it doesn’t come close to sounding healthy. You will basically be going on a 7 day fast.
Don’t be fooled, this diet has a few other aliases; “Sacred Heart Diet”, “Military Cabbage Soup”, “TJ Miracle Soup Diet”, and “Russian Peasant Diet”. Now, also keep in mind that, all of the diets named have denied a link with the diet. It is a common thread among the diets that the dieter is able to consume as much cabbage soup as he can stand.
