Hillary Duff is known for her own sitcom series Lizzie McGuire. However in addition to this commercial sitcom geared toward children, Hillary Duff also has other screen debuts. One of which can be seen on the Disney channel in Cadet Kelly.
Duff stars as an only child of divorced parents. She attends an art school and has a very free and non structured spirit. She lives with her mom and adores her dad who is a nature photographer.
All is great in Kelly’s (Duff’s screen name) until she discovers that her mom is getting married. It is not the man or the marriage that upsets Kelly’s life. It is the move and the adjustments to her life that she struggles with the most.
Kelly’s new home is on the base of a military school. Her new step father is the head of the school. Kelly is now forced to wear a uniform, conform to the ideas of others, and live a very structured life.
She is just about to give up when her mother announces that Kelly is going to be a big sister. Knowing how much work her family needs, Kelly toughs it out for the baby.
Kelly meets a new friend and a very cute guy. She outcomes and outsmarts the hard that she receives from others.
By the end of the movie, Kelly has changed her step father’s hard attitude, reformed the drill team, and given individuality to the school.
This is a great family movie. It is very appropriate for children of all ages. The movie displays how one person can make a difference. It also helps show how one can make the best of things even in the worst situations. Kelly keeps a positive outlook on life through most of the movie.
