Can Women have Intimacy without Love?

One article popped up in some recent research of mine that caught my attention. It seems that there is once again some discussion about the different feelings that men and women have about intimacy and love. It is no secret that men and women have very different thoughts when it comes to their ideas on relationships and intimacy.

In most cases, we would say that the two of these must go together. However it may be a growing trend that indeed much intimacy can come without love. More and more people are settling for occasional acts of intimacy rather than a loving relationship with one person.

At one point in time men were given a bad reputation for looking for intimacy without ties. However more and more feminist are pushing that women too should be able to have these occasional flings without feeling that a future with the male is necessary.

However some say that this for women simply is not possible due to chemical make-up. Psychiatrists at the California School of Professional Psychology say that the brains of women release oxytocin which in return sets off maternal behaviors. This ties the idea of having children to intimate relations. Therefore the thought is that once women are intimate with a man, they begin to connect having babies with him which in turn complicates the thought of intimacy without ties.

In some cases the issue becomes even more complicated by the thought that the man is feeling the same feelings too. However, in most cases he does not share this same connection with intimacy and children that women have.

I think that any acts of intimacy should be carefully thought through and feelings should be accessed. It is a wise idea to let the feelings come first and then the imitate relations.
