There are some things that never fail but to appeal to people and when it comes to promoting your home business, finding a way to tap into those “feel good” areas will help you to connect with your customer base and add profits to your business. One of the things people respond well to is “security.” If you are in a business or industry where you can tap into and sell “security”—that might be just the promotional angle for you to take.
Selling security does not have to mean using fear tactics and pushing an idea that there is some unknown evil out there. Security can simply be “peace of mind.” If you have a product or service that can add some peace of mind to your customer or client’s life, then that security and peace of mind may be well worth the purchase. Even a housecleaning business can use the concept of security—if you are licensed and bonded and have strong references, and then your clients will know that not only are their homes going to be clean and safe from germs, but they will also know that their prized possessions will be safe with you too. The focus is on the benefit for the consumer.
Good health, cleanliness, protection, safety—all of these are off shoots of security and they all have very strong appeal factor when it comes to connecting with individuals who could be (or are) your clients and customers. It might be worth your while to evaluate your home business to see if selling “security” is the route you should take in your marketing and promotional campaign. Again, I would suggest avoiding the fear and scare tactics and just focusing on how what you do in your home business can make your customers’ lives better, safer, and more secure.
