Candy Land Can!

I found something really fun the other day and my daughter seems to be just as enamored of it as I am. Remember the game Candy Land? You can now buy the Candy Land DVD game. The game is great because kids love it and it gets them up and moving. Kids are encouraged to jump, wave and hop up and down to the music. Children get to see the residents of Candy Land like Mr. Mint, King Kandy and Gramma Nutt.

The basis of the game invites children to go on adventures through the Peppermint Forest and across the Snow Flake Lake. But that’s not all. The game uses their beloved characters to play with the children in games like Follow the Leader, Simon Says and Musical Chairs.

Playing

I can’t tell you how much she enjoys dancing, playing and doing the routines in the game. It’s a fantastic addition to any mother’s repertoire for entertaining her children and getting them up off the sofas and couches. Studies indicate that children need about 30 minutes of exercise a day and games like Candy Land not only help you make sure they get it, but they get to have a lot of fun while they are doing it.

Other types of games you can play with your kids to get them up and moving include:

  • Hide and Seek
  • Tag
  • Ball Tossing
  • Frisbee
  • Toss Across
  • Playgrounds (including the climbing ones in McDonalds)

Be creative and think like a kid, when you’re having fun you’re more likely to do it again. How better to get your kids up and moving than get them having a good time. She tried out a dance pad at a local store recently and we’re talking about getting her one of the Dance Revolution or other like games that will let her dance on the dance pad. Still, she takes a regular dance class twice a week and enjoys running and playing on the playground at her pre-school. She gets plenty of exercise, so we’re just playing and having fun.

So – anyone up for a little game of Candy Land?
