Cards
Many scrapbookers also enjoy making cards because it is such a natural extension of our hobby. I have recently subscribed to a special card only idea book that is put out by the same people that make Scrapbook Trends Magazine. The name of the idea book is simply Cards.
I would like to share why I love this new idea book and why you might want to consider subscribing for yourself.
This is an idea book that is published every other month, so six times a year. It is much higher quality that the usual scrapbooking special edition idea books. This is printed on very thick, sturdy paper and really is a book more than a magazine.
The book is divided into seasonal chapters with ideas for cards that fit that topic. For example, in the May/June issue there are ideas for graduation, mothers, fathers, wedding and teachers. The March/April issue had card ideas for Easter, spring, announcements and friends.
They also have chapters on birthdays, thank yous, and other occasions where you use that type of card year round in each issue.
The card ideas can be submitted by anyone. You can check out their call of entries to see what card topics they are currently looking for.
The cards they select for the book are generally quite simple to reproduce at home. After all, this is not just a place for people to showcase their work, it is an idea book meant to give the readers ideas that they can use at home.
“The Ultimate Card Class” is a section in the middle of the book where two designers are given the same set of supplies and they show what they did. It is fun to see the variety of things you can do with the same set of supplies.
The subscription price for six issues of this idea book is $50.00. When I first saw the price, I thought that it was way too high, but I put this on my Christmas wishlist for fun and my husband bought it for me! I probably wouldn’t have bought it for myself, but I’m glad he did. Now that I have seen the quality, I will definitely be renewing my subscription.
If you love creating cards, or even if you are just looking for new ideas for your scrapbook layouts, this really is a beautiful idea book.
