This time of year you hear so many stories about charities and other organizations helping people. It’s wonderful when people go out of their way to help each other. It’s especially wonderful when single moms are the recipients of the help but it’s important to remember, people are in need all year, not just at the holidays.
John Doxey founded Cars for Moms- in an effort to help single mothers who are in need of transportation. He founded this nonprofit after his sister’s husband was killed in a freeway accident while she was pregnant with her eighth child. Suddenly his sister was alone with seven children, one on the way and no transportation. His family got together to get her a car and this idea was born.
John Doxey recently worked with the Chainbreaker Foundation to provide cars to two Utah women in time for Christmas. The Chainbreaker Foundation is a group that helps those in abusive relationships.
The goal of Cars for Moms is to receive 20 donated cars a month that can either be refurbished or salvaged. If the cars are salvaged the money will be used to repair those that can be repaired. You can also go to their website if you would like to donate and help other single moms in need.
Sometimes we forget that there is help out there if we need it. A Google search will put you in touch with people close to you if you are in an abusive relationship, if you can’t afford groceries or heat. The help is there, you just have to seek it out.
If you don’t need the help of organizations like these, be grateful and donate if you can. Another family will benefit from your generosity and get the help they need to get their lives back on track. The need is always there, but maybe if we help each other, one day, no one will be in need.
