Cars for Moms

It is so refreshing when people in the community come together to lift each other’s burdens. There is a non-profit organization in my home town, here in Utah, that has decided to reach out to single mothers in our area. Cars for Moms was founded by John Doxey when his sister’s husband was killed in a tragic car accident, leaving her alone to care for seven children and one on the way. Since that experience Doxey has become passionate about helping single mothers in the area.

People from all over the city have come together to donate their time and money so that these single mothers have a reliable form of transportation. Cars for Moms takes cars in any condition and refurbishes them so that they can donate them to deserving single mothers. One such mother received her donation this morning while at work. Many who made donations related to the car expressed how wonderful it felt to be able to give back to the community in such a way.

Single mothers have a lot on their plate. With money being so tight, it can be hard to afford simple conveniences, such as transportation. What a blessing it is to have an organization to help them out in their time of need.

So often we take these little things for granted. When you climb in your car every morning, do you think about how grateful you are to have such a luxury? Or are you too busy worrying about the clock and if you are going to make it to work on time this morning? The next time you turn the key, think about how lucky you are to be blessed with such a modern convenience. Be thankful for what you have. There are so many less fortunate. What can you do to help someone in your community today?
