Mommy Meddlers

This might appear as a vent session. In fact, I can almost guarantee it. But, I have to. I have three kids now, and my youngest is 11 weeks old. I have experienced Mommy meddling many times in having these three children. Yet, for some reason, it’s bugging me more and more the third time around. What am I talking about? I’m talking about people butting in on your parenting, or maybe, giving their two cents worth on something simple when you didn’t ask for it. I’m not talking about the meddling mother-in-law, or the very opinionated sister. No, I’m … Continue reading

My Fussy Baby

By the time I had my first baby my experience with infants was holding my friend’s baby for a few minutes each time I visited. I knew basically nothing so I was worried about how to handle a baby. Ironically, this inexperience and ignorance gave me the patience I would need to handle my fussy bundle. It did not surprise me that she cried. I figured that was what babies did. So for the first few months other than a few bumps in the road with nursing I was doing fine. Then the fussiness increased and I became weary and … Continue reading

The Toddler Bed Experience

I have successfully transitioned four children from a crib to a toddler bed. Add that into successfully potty training four children and I think that is enough accomplishment for one lifetime of parenting. For each child each thing presented a different challenge. The toddler bed experience was a disaster with one, not fun with another and quite easy with two of them. What makes it easy or hard will depend mostly on the child’s personality. Some children are better at taking things as they come then others. Some want to grow up and beg to be in a toddler bed … Continue reading

Birth Announcements: What to include and etiquette

New parents are always very excited about letting the world know about the birth of their little bundle of joy. However, the exhaustion that comes with having a baby may prevent you from rushing to the store to get your birth announcements to send immediately. Etiquette dictates to send a birth announcement as soon as possible preferably within the first month or two. If the time passes you by then consider making photo cards for the next holiday after your baby is born. You will find that some rules of etiquette will state it is acceptable to send out announcements … Continue reading

Mommy Confessions: The Tired Terrible Truth

Motherhood is pure bliss. Like the warm of hot chocolate on a cold morning a baby’s little arms warm your heart. Then you head into the living room for a cup of tea and to settle down with your favorite book. Finally you wake up from your dream to a crying fussy teething baby. While motherhood is joyous it is not without its … Continue reading

Baby Books: Who can keep up?

Scrapbooking is a wonderful way to express your creativity and keep treasured memories in reach. It encompasses two things I love; creative expression and photography. The marriage of the two is genius and one that will last a lifetime. Or so I thought. As much as I loved scrapbooking , I had no time to commit to the projects I wanted to complete. I have never finished a Christmas page, a birthday page or a baby page and my oldest is 13 years old. I love the idea but time prevents me from expressing my creativity with craft scissors, embellishments, … Continue reading

Identity Thief

Babies are a joy to be cherished. There is nothing like holding your baby for the first time. The first few days are precious and far too fleeting. I wish I had a time travel machine to go back to the newborn days of my children. On the other hand of the joy they bring is the feeling some moms feel that their identity has been stolen. One day you are you. People call you by your name. They ask how you are doing. You have goals and dreams. The next day you are so and so’s mom. Everyone begins … Continue reading
