Verizon Said No to iPhone Two Years Ago

USA Today reported that Verizon Wireless said no thanks to Steve Jobs offer to be the exclusive distributor for the Apple iPhone almost two years ago, deciding the five year sales agreement wasn’t worth the many strings that came attached. Vice-President Jim Gerace remarked, “We said no. We have nothing bad to say about the Apple iPhone. We just couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.” At issue were Apple’s demands to retain exclusive control over distribution of the iPhone and relationships with iPhone customers. While Apple and Verizon stores would have carried the device, reports say Wal-Mart, Best … Continue reading

iCache: One Credit Card Instead of 30

I recently went to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While I was there I spent a decent amount of time in the press room and while in the press room obviously talked to several members of the press. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is designed to showcase new electronics, with manufacturers from every walk of life. There were people there who make large panel flat screen televisions, as well as people who make hair curling irons, everything goes. In the press room one day we started talking about what our favorite item from the show was and one … Continue reading

E-Book Readers

I can remember in elementary school a teacher telling me that one day we would read books off of our computer screens. Without a doubt, I thought the woman was crazy. Now twenty years later e-books have become huge. A great deal of books today are released in e-book format as well as in paperback and hardback versions. For a long time I had trouble understanding why anyone would want to purchase an e-book. Most of my time reading is spent snuggled up on the couch, in bed, or out enjoying nature. I can’t think of a time where I’ve … Continue reading

USB Powered Drink Warmer / Cooler

Over the past few weeks I’ve been highlighting USB devices you can purchase for your home computer that seem to be a bit on the peculiar side. Today’s wonderful USB inventions, the USB drink cooler/heater. This USB device will heat or cool your drink while it is plugged in to your computer’s USB port. The plug and play device is perfect for people who like to take a long time with their coffee in the morning, or an even longer time with their coke later in the afternoon. There have really been an overwhelming amount of peculiar USB devices that … Continue reading

USB Heated Slippers

I wrote a blog a few months ago about a set of USB hand warmers I found for sale on the internet. The hand warmers would plug into the USB port on your computer, and keep your hands toasty warm. At the time, I thought the invention was pretty bizarre, and I couldn’t think of a time or place where I would be using my computer and need a set of hand warmers that plug in. This month I have found something better… The company USB Brando has created a set of slippers that heat with the USB on your … Continue reading

An iPod Video Projector?

An iPod projector? This week I found an ad for an iPod video projector. The basic idea of the projector, is that you connectyour video enabled iPod into this huge projector, and you can then project your video onto the wall behind you. I have to say, this makes absolutely no sense to me. I can’t for the life of me understand why you would purchase a large device to then plug your small video playing device into to play. I understand the idea of maybe plugging your video enabled iPod into your television and watching your video, although I … Continue reading

Jetson’s Technology, Today

In 1985, AT&T created a video where they talked about what the world would be like twenty years down the road. In the video they discussed things like WiFi, video conferencing, and downloading movies. While they didn’t personally create any of this technology, it all exists in today’s world, and is for the most part taken for granter by today’s citizens. I actually read an article out this video on another website this week, and was immediately reminded of The Jetsons. I absolutely loved watching that cartoon growing up. If I recall right, the cartoon was supposed to take place … Continue reading

A Computerized Shoe Fitter?

Do you remember going to be fitted for shoes as a child? I can remember always hating the process. There was always those huge medal size things, and some weird, and occasionally scary shoe clerk who would have to measure you with them to determine what your shoe size is. Obviously, I don’t have fond memories of this process. I’m currently working on developing a new fitness plan to lose weight. I didn’t have a good pair of running shoes, so I went to one of my local sports supply stores a few days ago to get a pair of … Continue reading

Webkins: An Interactive Virtual Pet For Your Child

When I was in elementary or middle school Tamagotchi’s started becoming popular. If you have somehow escaped the Tamagotchi craze, what they are, are key chains that double as pets. Once you start playing with your Tamagotchi you get to see it be born, you feed it, play with it, and even tell it when to go to the bathroom. I can remember being obsessed with mine and playing with it constantly, much to the dismay of my teachers. Tamagotchi’s are still around, but now there is a much more advanced version of the popular toy: The Webkin. If your … Continue reading

iPod Messenger Bag

Just when you thought they couldn’t come up with any more accessories for your iPod, now there is one more. The company G-Tech recently released plans to create an iPod messenger bag. The messenger bag goes along with their already pretty decent line of book bags that are designed to integrate along with your iPod. The book bag allows you to connect your iPod or mp3 player to the book bag and then use the controls on the book bag itself to control your iPod. The book bag version of their product is actually a pretty decent book bag with … Continue reading
