Disney Cruise Destinations for 2014

The Disney Cruise Line prides itself on adding new destinations and different trips every year.  The itineraries for 2014 are starting to be released, so let’s take a look at the new places and experiences on the ticket for next year. First up, the Disney Cruise line is adding a whole new south Caribbean cruise.  The highlight of the trip is that it’ll be heading to Puerto Rico for the first time ever.  The Disney Magic will leave from San Juan on a new 7-night south Caribbean cruise that will also visit St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, Grenada, and Antigua. … Continue reading

Married at Sea: Disney Cruise Weddings

I’ve never written much about a Disney wedding, which is strange because I’m a blogger both for our Disney and our Marriage categories. But if you read my marriage blogs you know that I’m not a fan of big, fancy weddings, and a Disney wedding would certainly be that. Previous Disney bloggers have written a lot on the topic, so I didn’t have anything new to offer. Until now. I just learned that the Disney Cruise line offers wedding and vow renewal packages. I’m always up for writing about a new Disney thing I didn’t know existed, and we’ve never … Continue reading

Adventures by Disney Cruise Enhancements

Once again the Disney Cruise line has teamed up with Adventures by Disney to help you make even more out of your Disney vacation. Before, the two created European Port Adventures, where guests on European cruises could follow Adventures by Disney guides on land to see and learn even more of the countries they’re visiting. This time they’re doing something similar, with Alaska. The name is a bit wordier this time, called “Enhance Your Alaskan Cruise with Adventures by Disney.” For anyone familiar with Adventures by Disney, particularly its trips to rural locales, a lot of the activities are going … Continue reading

Disney Cruises in 2012 and 2013

I haven’t reported as much on the Disney Fantasy as I did on the Disney Dream. The latest in the Disney fleet makes its maiden voyage in just a few weeks and yet this is the first that I’m reporting on it. That’s because there hasn’t been a lot to say; the Fantasy is quite similar to the Dream. It’s beefed up a bit, but it’s basically a bigger, fancier version of the Dream. Now the Fantasy is set to make its first trips, however, and the time has come to talk about it. For the first time a christening … Continue reading

New Disney Cruise Destinations

The debut of the Dream seems to have kicked off a wave of Disney cruise news. Last week Disney website Stitch Kingdom announced that three brand new ports of departure have been added to the Disney cruise lineup for 2012: New York, Seattle, and Galveston, TX. Bookings for cruises launching from these new locations started on April 8. This news comes on the heels of the announcement of yet another cruise ship: the Disney Fantasy. Setting off on its maiden voyage in March 2012, the Disney Fantasy is the sister ship to the Dream. I haven’t posted a preview of … Continue reading

European Port Adventures

Today I’ve got some Disney cruise news that, unlike last time, isn’t just a little bit silly. The official Disney Parks blog, which really does seem to be more the official Disney vacation blog, announces some updates to the Disney European cruises. This summer all travelers aboard the Disney Magic, the cruise line’s often Europe-bound vessel, get to participate in the pilot launch of the European Port Adventures. The word “Adventure” is a hint; this new program reminds me very much of operations on an Adventures by Disney vacation. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if Disney’s putting its AbD … Continue reading

Goofy New Check-In for Disney Cruises

Have you been considering going on a Disney cruise vacation, but aren’t quite sure that the whole experience would be enough fun? Sure, Disney cruises are some of the most luxurious vacations out there, but they’ve also got the potential to become a bit claustrophobic, and there were all those food poisoning incidents on cruise ships last year, even if none of them were on Disney ships. Well, either the execs at the Walt Disney Corp. cruise division thought their marketing scheme needed an extra push, or someone over in the animation/graphic design department was feeling whimsical, because the Disney … Continue reading

Disney Cruises Update

Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island and one of your destinations on cruises with the Dream Exactly one year ago I first introduced you to the Disney Dream, Disney’s newest state-of-the-art cruise ship. With the Dream scheduled to make its maiden voyage at the end of January, many new details about the ship have been announced in anticipation of this event. Poking around on the official website for the Dream reveals much of that information. The Dream includes two theaters, the Buena Vista and the Walt Disney, which are a cinema and live performance theater, respectively. The Buena Vista screens first-run … Continue reading

Introducing the Disney Dream

If it’s possible to bask in more luxury while floating on a glittering ocean in the warm sun, then one would be hard-pressed to conceive of it. With the Disney Dream, the newest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, families can spend their vacation in an opulent city on the sea. At least, that’s what Disney would like you to think. Disney Cruise Lines aims to dazzle, and the effect from the announcement of the Dream is nearly blinding. In these tough economic times we need to be careful with our money, so trying to make decisions about taking expensive … Continue reading

5 Great Reasons to Take a Disney Cruise

We’re a huge lover of all things Disney, heck, we were married at Disney, but until recently I never thought of going on a Disney Cruise. Initially, my resistance to the idea of a Disney Cruise was the expense of it versus just going to the parks themselves. After all, as my daughter summed up, Disney World has lots and lots of rides – a cruise has just a boat. Not Just a Boat A Disney Cruise is not just a boat. While the cost may be expensive, there are some great deals out there for 3 day cruises that … Continue reading
