a 1.09!

My husband recently had his blood drawn to see how well his one solo kidney is functioning. One of the test that they do is to test the blood for the creatine level. Creatine is a waste product that increases in your blood when your kidney is not functioning properly. The guideline levels are it should be between .79 and 1.99 so when we opened up our lab results that came in the mail and saw that his creatine level was a 1.09! Yes I am going to use an ! point because this is amazing. The nephrologist wrote a … Continue reading

I have a friend who is a non-insulin dependent diabetic she controls hers through her food choices. She is always complaining that she is itchy but says that her sugar has been good so she does not know … Continue reading

Small Changes Make Big Differences

So if you are a wife and you have a husband who is like mine you know how hard it is to change their eating habits. With my husband there are a few things that he just loves Dr. Pepper, Coke, milk, tomato sauce on spaghetti or pizza. These are all good foods but not when you only have one kidney. What Do Kidneys Do?

I must admit before my husband was diagnosed with kidney disease I did not know much about what the kidney did. Since then I have been doing research on top of more research. I must say there is so many websites for information when it comes to medical issues. You really need to be careful what websites you trust for information. For example do not trust what you read on Wikipedia.com but you can trust webmd.com or mayoclinic.com. The biggest difference is that webmd.com and mayoclinic.com are actually monitored and uploaded with information provided by researchers and doctors where anyone … Continue reading

Cost Of Cancer Detection and Treatment

A friend of mine has a sister who is let’s say a free spirit. I would guess she is in her late 40’s (not really sure) but she is currently unemployed and has no health insurance. Sometime last year she noticed a lump she went to a doctor who said that he thought it was nothing but dense breast. She kept it in the back of her mind for a while then she noticed it again or at least that is what she is saying. She started noticing it a few months ago when she thought maybe she should try … Continue reading

Now with our history of cancer I should warn you I get very worried and stressed every time we have any health issues because I automatically think cancer and this was no different.
