Two Favorite Cleaning Products

Last year when I got married, I moved into my husband’s house and wow! Cleaning a whole house, instead of just my previous bedroom, kept me really busy. I enjoy having a house and taking care of it, but cleaning it can be a big chore if I don’t stay on top of it. To make cleaning a more speeding process I have found some favorite products to help me do a quick clean. To clean floors I love the Swiffer WetJet! They work great on wood, tile, linoleum, and almost any kind of hard flooring. What is perfect about … Continue reading

Fighting Pet Stains with Pee-Pee

I am the owner of two adorable Miniature Schnauzers with poor home training. I guess it’s my fault for not doing a better job, but technically the dogs belong to my son and husband, so I can say it’s their fault! Anyway I came home from vacation to a couple of horrible stains. It seems the dogs got out of the kennel when the pet sitter was not here and make a horrible mess in the dining room. Yes, they had a bad bowel movement in the dining room. They also marked a few of my dining chairs leaving some … Continue reading

Cleaning and Polishing Wood Floors

One of the things that have stumped me the most is caring for our wood floors. We love hardwood floors because of their beauty and the fact that they don’t promote allergies or asthma, the way traditional carpeting does. We had hardwood floors in our last home, and we have them in this one (with the exception of the the family room, the kitchen and the bathrooms). Over the years, I have tried a few different things to get the hardwood floors clean and looking beautiful. When we were showing our home, potential buyers commented on how lovely our floors … Continue reading

Product Review: George Foreman Grill

Have you tried the “Lean, Mean, Fat Reducing, Grilling Machine”? The indoor grill concept is not new, but many styles and sizes are. You can choose from several different models and price ranges. I received a George Foreman Grill as a Christmas gift. I thought it was pretty cool, but in all honesty, I wasn’t sure how much we would actually use it. We have rarely shied away from outdoor grilling, even in the winter, if we really wanted something cooked on the grill. I thought about putting it in the camper, just in case we encountered a rainy day … Continue reading

Product Review: Betty Crocker Bake‘n Fill

I received the “as seen on TV” Betty Crocker Bake’n Fill four-piece bake set for Mother’s Day, but I had not tested it. Well, today is my birthday (and I’m OLD, so I don’t really want to talk about that!). My kids were very excited about making me a birthday cake and of course, about being the first ones to try out the bake set (with just a little supervision). It’s pretty cool. The set includes: One round layer pan One dome shaped insert One tall base pan One dome shaped pan *NOTE: After looking up the website, it appears … Continue reading

Achooo! Please Pass the Tissue

Colds, flu, allergies, and every day hygiene mean that families go through lots of tissues. What kind of tissue do you use in your home? Do you choose different types for different needs? When I was a kid, tissue was tissue. We called it all “Kleenex” in a generic sense, even though Kleenex is a brand name. Kleenex tissues are one of the lines that I buy frequently. That or Puffs. Puffs have been around a long time too. There are of course other brands, including store brands, but these two are the brands I normally buy. They come in … Continue reading

Product Review: GladWare Reusable Storage Containers

I didn’t run right out to buy GladWare Reusable Storage Containers. In fact, I had received a Smart Spin Storage System as a Mother’s Day gift and figured I had plenty of quality containers. I happened to find out how good this product is after purchasing Sara Lee sandwich kits that came complete with deli meat and cheese, packaged in GladWare containers. The square container was a handy size and the lid closed tightly. They worked well for storing lunchmeat and cheese, so I decided to hang on to them for just that purpose. I didn’t think that much about … Continue reading

Review: Dollar Tree

I don’t have a lot of choices when it comes to nearby shopping. That’s one of the trade-offs of living in the country. Still, if I go fifty miles in any direction, there are more choices. I don’t normally drive that far just for the heck of it, but if I’m headed out anyway, I make sure to bring my shopping list! On one such trip a while back, I ventured into a Dollar Tree store. Wow! I loved it. It’s much better than most of the other dollar stores I’ve been to, and I got some really good deals. … Continue reading

Product Review: Leaf Collectors

Are you raking leaves this weekend? If you have a large yard you may be wishing you had help. If you happen to have an ACE Hardware store in your neck of the woods then help may be just a car drive away. The store is currently featuring products that claim to make leaf collecting a whole lot easier. But, do they work? One store near our home was offering an interactive display that allowed you to “Try Before You Buy.” The two products were affordable and didn’t require gasoline, electricity or help from an extra set of hands. It … Continue reading
