Why is My Pain Treated Differently at Work?

I have a close friend who works all day behind a computer and has for over 20 years. During the past five years his hands, elbows, shoulders and neck have started to feel the stress. Over the last year the pain and difficulty has become progressively worse and the company Ergonomics department has actively attempted to make his work area a custom fit in order to reduce the stress. My friend earns a great living at what he does, and over the last five months returns home a little early in order to make out with a heating pad, take … Continue reading

Ask Anna:The Midnight Disaster!

Last night my phone rang just before midnight. The caller I.D. said it was my little brother in California, of course I panicked for a moment as I picked up the phone to talk. My brother’s and I are very close but generally don’t speak in the middle of the night. So naturally I knew something was wrong. The good thing was that no one was hurt, dead or dying. Once I knew everyone was safe, my brother started to explain what his problem was. Freezing temperatures are not the normal thing people in Southern California experience for long periods … Continue reading

Ask Anna: My Auto Insurance Policy was Cancelled For Non-Payment!

Today, I recieved this message from a Families.com member: During the holidays some of my mail was misplaced and I didn’t realize my car insurance bill was missing, so I didn’t pay it. Today I found the notice that if my bill wasn’t paid by January 6th my auto insurance would be cancelled. I have a couple of questions, first of all does this mean that I have been driving around for 2-days without any car Insurance? And, since it’s January 8th two days after the cancellation date will I be able to get my car insurance renewed? I had … Continue reading

Ask Anna

When a person has a name like “Anna” and invites friends and Families.com members to send her questions to use in an Advice type of column then–the column has to be named–“Ask Anna.” Trust me I tried to think of something less obvious, but the other titles I could think of sounded like someone “trying too hard.” Anna’s Insurance Q’s and A’s Anna’s Insurance Advice Blogs Insurance Queen. (no, no, no, who wrote that in my notes?!) Anyway, it was way too hard to think of any other title to call the Insurance Advice Blogs other then, “Ask Anna” so … Continue reading

Hit-and-Run Driver Crashed into Parked Car.

One of the most interesting insurance positions I held was in a Multi-Company Insurance Agency with a specialty in providing insurance coverage for used car dealerships. I worked in the personal lines where we made sure everyone–including the dealers employees were insured. But, my primary job was to manage all of the agencies claims. I was the liaison between our policyholders–clientele and the claims adjusters for the insurance companies we placed our customers with. Recently a Families.com forum member Asked me about a claims situation with her auto insurance. Unfortunately, the story is one I have heard way too many … Continue reading
