30 Day Shred

Jillian Michaels, America’s toughest trainer. That’s what they say anyway and I have to admit, she’s pretty tough. The 30 day shred program says you can lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days. I always take those claims with a grain of salt, I think weight loss is different for everyone depending on your body type and how much you have to lose. This video has three different levels, from beginner to advanced, and they are all tough! Each workout is 20 minutes long with a warm up and a cool down. I thought the first level would be … Continue reading

What is ClearPlay?

ClearPlay is a new electronic device that has been designed to filter out objectionable content from standard DVDs. Sounds pretty good, but how does it work? First, you need a DVD player that is geared to work with the ClearPlay system. Not every DVD on the market is compatible, so you’ll want to check the features on your machine and make sure it will work. Then you need to download the filter for your particular movie from the ClearPlay website. You can put the information on a flash drive and then insert the drive into the DVD player. Then you … Continue reading

Hoop-Dee-Do – It’s a Wiggly Party! (2002)

I have a confession to make. I really fight the urge to wiggle, but sometimes, I just can’t help it. And it’s usually to the stupidest songs on the show, too – but hey, they’ve got a catchy beat. “Hoop-Dee-Do – It’s a Wiggly Party!” was a new one at our house this week. With the discovery that my two-year-old is a musical genius, we’ve done what we can to hunt up different musically-based DVDs for him to watch. He quite enjoys the Wiggles. We start this show like we would any party – with the guests arriving and getting … Continue reading

The Wiggles: Wiggly Safari (2002)

This DVD presentation is nostalgic on two levels – first, it features Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, now passed away. It also features Greg Page, the yellow Wiggle, now in retirement. The Wiggles are off on an adventure in the Big Red Car – they’re going to Australia Zoo to see the animals. Who better to be their guides than Steve Irwin, his wife Terri, and their daughter Bindi? The Irwins are introduced into the show with a new song by the Wiggles called “The Crocodile Hunter.” Steve takes the Wiggles on a tour of the zoo, and shows them … Continue reading

Gustafer Yellowgold’s Wide Wild World DVD Review

You most likely have never heard of Morgan Taylor, a talented singer-songwriter and illustrator, or his remarkable creation, Gustafer Yellowgold. Gustafer is an immensely likable yellow fellow, originally from the Sun, who now resides in suburban Minnesota and considers an Eel, a Dragon and Pterodactyl his close friends. While you may be scratching your head at what I just wrote, chances are, if you have a young child and are interested in music and film, you will soon be familiar with Gustafer Yellowgold and his pals. Morgan Taylor and his golden friend have recently signed to Little Monster, a new … Continue reading

Teaching Kids Art Through Media

Our society today focuses more and more on teaching children about culture, science, and art. Children love art, which usually begins while quite young, scribbling on paper. With today’s media games, we can take those scribbles, turning them into more. We now see a number of excellent programs designed specifically on art, making it fun while also teaching. One such program is called The Kids Collection, which is actually a collection of six computer games focusing on children. This particular art game is exciting and loaded with offers for creativity. For instance, children can go to the Sim Theme Park … Continue reading
