Just Dance 3 Review

Sometimes it is just a little difficult to get the motivation to exercise. Faithful with walking and running in the other three seasons, getting out in the dark and the cold takes some extra resolve that isn’t always there. The warm cinnamon rolls and a cup of coffee always seem much more appealing than donning layers to head out to the park in 25 degrees. Still, all of those Christmas cookies can wreck havoc. With four other people in the house who either need exercise or at least an outlet for their energy, we decided to try Just Dance 3 … Continue reading

Wii My Sims Party Review

When I purchased the video game Wii My Sims Party from my neighbor for only one dollar I was a little skeptical about its play value. “My daughter wanted it so badly, but then she didn’t play it,” was what my neighbor said with a shrug. For a dollar, I figured I would take the chance, since the game seemed very family friendly and had a lot of opportunity for cooperative play, something that works well in my house of three kids at three different ages. I was pleasantly surprised by the fun that ensued. While it had some problems … Continue reading

Game Review: Dream Chronicles

If you enjoy playing casual games, such as Diner Dash, Farmville, Bejeweled, Mystery Case Files or Plants versus Zombies, then I think you are going to like Dream Chronicals, especially if you are looking to step up to something with a little more adventure. A cross between hidden object and adventure game, Dream Chronicles attempts to bridge the gap between the casual game and the traditional game. It does a decent job with this goal, and the pros outweigh the cons. In Dream Chronicles, you are Faye, a woman who wakes up one day to find her husband missing and … Continue reading

Rayman Raving Rabbids Video Game Review

It was one of those rare moments when we took our kids to the pre-owned video game store and told them to pick out something for the Wii that was under $20 and rated E. We definitely lined up some cool parent points there. Our only problem was getting all three of them to agree to the same game. It also had to be something that either my husband or I could play with them without getting bored to tears. One sure way to limit video game time in our household is to play with mom or dad. We have … Continue reading

Diner Dash Comes to Facebook

The playfirst game that some many have come to love has a new home on Facebook, where the classic time management fun incorporates new social networking features. If you aren’t familiar with classic Diner Dash, it goes something like this. Flo waits tables for the good of mankind. She must seat each set of customers, take their orders, feed them, grab the check and clean up after them. Some customers are more demanding than others, and if you make any of them wait too long, they will throw a temper tantrum and leave. Customers keep coming until the restaurant closes. … Continue reading

Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 Video Game Review

The makers of the Lego series of video games offers Lego Harry Potter for the Wii, a fun bit of entertainment for fans. Covering the Harry Potter years from 1-4, this game combines all of the charm of the Harry Potter world with the creative game play of Lego. There is a good mix of puzzle-solving game play and exploration. The emphasis on battle play, blowing up other Lego character until they fall apart into their individual pieces, is more downplayed than in the previous Lego series, such as Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman. I personally I think this … Continue reading

FaceBook Game Review: Treasure Quest

If you like relaxing a little bit with a casual game on Facebook but have already built your barn, planted all the roses you care to plant and milked all of the alien cows on Farmville, then you might want something slightly different. Treasure Quest by Big Fish games has an incarnation on Facebook that is worth checking out. Oh no, you think, if you are like me, I really don’t want to blast my friend’s pages with endless requests for materials or guilt them into signing up to play with me. Well, Treasure Quest does no such thing. Instead … Continue reading

Plants Vs Zombies

“There’s a zom-bie on your law-on…we don’t want zombies on da lawn” so goes the theme song to the hit game Plants vs Zombies. And it is very true. You really don’t want zombies on your lawn. They like to make their way into your house and eat your brains. Fortunately, in Plants vs Zombies, you have a great defense team, cute little plants that form an infantry against the shuffling invaders. You plant your army of green stuff across your lawn, and with the right strategy in place, your sunflowers, pea shooters, wall-nuts, and at least one plant that … Continue reading

Which Wii Fitness Game Should You Choose?

Since the weather has gotten a bit cooler, I am anticipating that my mornings walking and running outside are a but numbered. The goose bumps I get as I start out are a clear indication that although the fall may be perfect for exercising outdoor, the winter surely won’t. I remember when Wii Fit came out and how I really wanted to get this game, to help me do some indoor workouts. A friend of mine who borrows the game on occasion says that she loves it. It is a bit pricey when you factor in having to use a … Continue reading
