The Crippled Lamb

This is another one to remember in December! The “Crippled Lamb” movie is based on the book written by Max Lucado, who is known as one of the best Christian authors. The story revolves around the birth of Jesus and God’s special plan for one lame lamb. The lamb, Joshua was born crippled. He has a difficult time keeping up with the other sheep and lambs in the herd due to his limp. Joshua would love more than anything to be big and strong and fast like the others. He feels that he was cheated by his disability. In one … Continue reading

Growing Up with Winnie the Pooh: It’s Playtime with Pooh (2006)

With few children’s characters as immortally beloved as Winnie the Pooh, it’s no wonder that the Disney company has done everything they can to capitalize on his popularity. The television series that came from the original films has definitely been a favorite amongst its preschool viewers, and the video series “Growing Up with Winnie the Pooh” takes those television episodes and combines them to create an hour-long film. “It’s Playtime with Pooh” features four short films that demonstrate the importance of friendship and working together to solve problems. In our first story, the animals experience a series of practical jokes. … Continue reading

Brother Bear 2

“Brother Bear 2” is an extension of “Brother Bear”. As the viewers of “Brother Bear” know, Kenai was turned from a person into a bear during this first movie. “Brother Bear 2” begins with Kenai, still a bear, and his brother Koda, also a bear, waking up from their six months of hibernation. Kenai is happy being a bear but misses the companionship of his childhood friend Nita. Nita, who is still human, is preparing to marry a man in her village. During the ceremony the ground is spilt and the spirits signal that the marriage should not take place. … Continue reading

Happy Feet

“Happy Feet” is an animated tale of the struggles faced by a penguin. The story begins before the little penguin, Mumble, is even born. It shows the hardships that penguins go through in hatching and carrying for their eggs. The movie gives some insight on the roles carried out by the male and female penguin. These clips give some resemblance to those that can be seen in “March of the Penguins”. Right from hatching, everyone knows that Mumble is different. He hatches late and comes out dancing with his feet. Mumble’s breed of penguins is known for their heart song … Continue reading

Annabelle’s Wish

Print this article or place it in your favorites for December! “Annabelle’s Wish” is a wonderful movie to embrace during the Christmas season. While my children and I love the movie anytime of the year, it is a heartwarming tale that takes place during the holidays and features no other than Santa Claus. Annabelle’s Wish is an animated movie that revolves around the story of Billy, a young boy living with his grandfather. His aunt wishes to take him away but Billy wants to stay. Billy, who suffered from a fire accident, cannot speak and Annabelle helps his dreams come … Continue reading

Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman and some of the best animation to grace the screens in year. Welcome to Kung Fu Panda, DreamWorks’ latest addition to their animation library which features Shrek, The Bee Movie, Madagascar, Shark Tale and so many more. There can be little doubt that DreamWorks Animated SKG will boast a modern animated library to rival Disney. Kung Fu Fighting Panda Po (Black) is a clumsy, oversized panda who spends his time eating and working in his family’s noodle shop. He is an average ‘Po’ who daydreams of being a great Kung Fu Master. Imagine his … Continue reading

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Chipmunk Adventure (1987)

I used to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was a little girl. With the release of the new film “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” a whole new generation is being introduced to the furry little singing rodents. My kids were thrilled when I brought home “The Chipmunk Adventure.” Although animated and not live action, like the new film, they enjoyed learning more about Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. Dave is getting ready for a long trip to Europe for business. Alvin really wants to come along, but Dave tells him no. He’s hired Miss Miller, an eccentric elderly lady, to … Continue reading

Wallace and Gromit: Three Amazing Adventures (2001)

We as a family fell in love with Wallace and Gromit when we saw “The Curse of the Were-rabbit.” Last night we sat down and watched “Three Amazing Adventures.” While we weren’t as enthralled as we were with “Rabbit,” we did enjoy the movie quite a lot. Wallace is a guileless bloke who enjoys building contraptions and eating cheese. He lives with his faithful dog Gromit who basically keeps him on track and is the brains behind the operation, although he never speaks. In the first of our three adventures, Wallace discovers that he’s out of cheese. This is a … Continue reading

Duke and the Great Pie War (2005)

This installment in the VeggieTales collection of spoofed Bible stories was a little bit odd to me. I didn’t find it as well constructed as the films of the past. I knew they were trying to make a point, but I didn’t feel they actually made it. Let’s take a closer look at it. The theme for the show was loving your family. We see Laura Carrot as Miriam, older sister to baby Moses. She resents having to take care of the baby while her parents are working in the brickyard as Pharoah’s slaves. She used to get all the … Continue reading

Barbie Mariposa (2008)

“Barbie Mariposa” is another installment in the series of movies starring Barbie in various roles. This time, we’re meeting Mariposa, a butterfly fairy who is a friend of Elena’s, who we met in Fairytopia. The butterfly fairies live in Flutterfield, a land which is far away from Fairytopia. The fairies can’t fly back and forth to visit each other because they are in danger – evil monsters want to eat the butterfly fairies, and they can’t leave the safety of the lights of their village. Those lights were invented by a kind and beautiful queen named Marybella, and as long … Continue reading
