Cadet Kelly

Hillary Duff is known for her own sitcom series Lizzie McGuire. However in addition to this commercial sitcom geared toward children, Hillary Duff also has other screen debuts. One of which can be seen on the Disney channel in Cadet Kelly. Duff stars as an only child of divorced parents. She attends an art school and has a very free and non structured spirit. She lives with her mom and adores her dad who is a nature photographer. All is great in Kelly’s (Duff’s screen name) until she discovers that her mom is getting married. It is not the man … Continue reading

Soon the series needed more. Air Bud World Pup is the movie in which the Air Buddies are introduced. In this movie Buddy’s family marries and gets a stepfather and sister. Eight Below

This is one of my all time favorites! “Eight Below” is a PG movie presented by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie revolves around Jerry, who has made his life guiding researchers through the icy continent of Antarctica. To help him with his work are his faithful sled dogs. With very little interaction with the world, Jerry is on the continent with his friends and coworkers, Katie (ex girlfriend and the pilot) and Cooper (cartographer). Jerry’s latest assignment is to take out a geologist, Dr. McLaren, in search of a rare meteorite. The catch is that the adventure is almost too … Continue reading

National Treasure 2 – Book of Secrets

Soon after “National Treasure” starring Nicolas Cage hit its popularity in 2004 came the creation of “National Treasure 2 – Book of Secrets” also starring Cage. The plot of this sequel revolves around the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and the struggle of two men to uphold their family’s name. It is brought to Ben Gate’s (Cage) attention that a missing page of Booth’s diary could connect Gate’s great-great-grandfather to Lincoln’s death. Gates sets out to prove this theory wrong. The only way to clear his family’s name is to once again go on a treasure hunt, this time for … Continue reading

Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

I will admit I was hesitant to see this one. You see, I love Katherine Patterson, and frankly, I never feel as if the movie could possibly come close to the book. I have to admit though, I was pleasantly surprised. Plot Summary Bridge to Terabithia is a charming story of Leslie Burke, a girl who moves to a new town and finds herself the oddball. Her parents are writers and don’t let her watch any television. Consequently, she has an incredible sense of imagination. I think the word “vivid” might be apt. She makes fast friends with the neighbor … Continue reading

Snow Buddies

“Snow Buddies” is a continuation of the famous Golden Retriever series that began years ago as “Air Bud” hit the media. After the dog had played several sports, the need to add more to the movies brought about the idea for puppies. The first movie with the Golden Retriever pups was “Air Buddies”. “Snow Buddies” is the latest pup creation by Disney. The G rated movie is about 87 minutes long of cuteness and laughter. The pups begin at home were they all meet up and begin their daily adventure. Their curiosity leads them into an ice cream truck which … Continue reading

The Jungle Book (DVD -1967)

In February, Tristi wrote a fantastic blog about The Jungle Book and this week, Disney’s opened the vault to re-release the film on DVD just in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. The beauty of the Jungle Book is that the story itself is timeless and well done. Mowgli is an orphaned boy raised by wolves and befriended by many of the animals, save for Kaa and Shere Khan. Kaa, the great python, is more of a nuisance than a real enemy. He’d like to eat Mowgli, but then Mowgli would fill him up for quite … Continue reading

An Extremely Goofy Movie (2000)

In “An Extremely Goofy Movie,” we see that Goofy’s son Max has graduated from high school and is now going off to college with his two friends, PJ and Bobby. He’s really excited to be getting out on his own, and, I’m sorry to say, despite everything he learned in “A Goofy Movie,” he’s still ashamed of his father and wants to be anywhere but with him. He takes off early one morning without looking at the nice breakfast Goofy prepared for him and without even saying a proper goodbye. Goofy’s heart is broken as he wanders through the house, … Continue reading
