Emmy’s Big Winners

Did you watch the Emmys last night? I tuned in and was glad I did. I loved Jimmy Fallon as host. His opening “Born to Run” routine with the kids from “Glee” was hilarious. And the fact that they bypassed Kate Gosselin twice for the musical number? Too funny! It was a big night for one of my favorite comedies “Modern Family.” The show took home Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker), Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd), and Outstanding Comedy Series. While “Glee” was shot down … Continue reading

More on the Gary Coleman Story

Poor Gary Coleman – it seems that even death cannot separate him from drama. The former “Diff’rent Strokes” star was taken off life support last week after falling in his home. Today, the 911 call by his “wife” (and I put that in quotes – I’ll talk about that in a minute) was released and it almost made me sick to read it. Shannon Price called 911 after hearing a bang. She told the operator “He just got home, I heard this big bang, I went downstairs. Blood everywhere. I don’t know if he’s okay. I’m not down there right … Continue reading

Congressman Charlie Wilson and Captain Phil Harris Die

Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson, played by Tom Hanks in the film Charlie Wilson’s War, has died at the age of 76. Wilson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, started his political career in 1960 after serving four years in the Navy. He was sworn in as a Texas state representative in 1961. He earned a reputation as a liberal, being pro-choice and supporting the Equal Rights Amendment. He served in the Texas legislature for 12 years before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. He served 12 terms there, finally resigning in 1996. Wilson, who earned the nickname “Good Time … Continue reading

Joel Madden vs. Strict Flight Attendant

In this corner… heavily tattooed Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden. And in this corner… a conservative British Airways flight attendant. Ding, ding! It’s not exactly the fight of the century, more like the flight of shame. According to Nicole Richie’s baby daddy, an airline worker refused to allow him on a flight from Chicago to London unless he covered up his tattoos. The rocker claims he was flying out of the Windy City a few days ago to film a new music video when a male flight attendant ordered him to hide the body art on his arms. To be … Continue reading

Twittermania

Okay, call me old, but I am just not into Twitter. Oh sure, I am on there (http://twitter.com/lpelham), but I already have MySpace and Facebook and I usually update my statuses there, why bother with Twitter? And seeing everyone else’s updates like that just seems a bit manic. But, it appears I am alone in not twitting as the rest of the world seems to be in love with it. I blogged a while back about singer Erykah Badu’s childbirth being twitted online, play by play. Now, a Twitter battle is on. Ashton Kutcher is hoping to beat CNN to … Continue reading

Bill O’Reilly Says He’ll Boycott Sean Penn Films

Sean Penn may be slated to play Larry in the upcoming Three Stooges film, but Bill O’Reilly won’t be there to see it. O’Reilly, the host of Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” did an interview for The Hollywood Reporter and when asked what actor’s political views disturbed him so much he won’t see their films, O’Reilly said “Just Sean Penn.” O’Reilly did concede that Penn is a great actor (one of the greatest actors of my generation in my honest opinion), but said that he doesn’t want to give his ten bucks to someone that gives “aid and comfort” to such … Continue reading

Simon Cowell on Ice and “American Idol” the Movie

Leave it to media hog Simon Cowell to find a grandiose way to keep his legacy alive after his death. According to a new report, the “American Idol” judge is planning to do the world an “invaluable service” by having his body frozen after he dies so he can be brought back to life in the future. I have a feeling he’s not joking. The music mogul reportedly shared his brilliant idea with guests at a private dinner hosted by Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Witnesses say Cowell is dead serious about having his body preserved in liquid nitrogen in … Continue reading

Angelina Jolie “Creeped Out” by Mother of Octuplets

She is the celeb mom, who many believe Nadya Suleman is trying to emulate, but movie star Angelina Jolie says the California mother of octuplets freaks her out. According to news reports, Jolie’s exact words were, “totally creeped out.” That’s how Brad Pitt’s famous domestic partner reportedly feels about Suleman, the now-infamous mother of six who just gave birth to eight more children — all thanks to artificial insemination. I haven’t spoken to Jolie, but I would guess her remark has something to do with the fact that Suleman reportedly underwent plastic surgery to look more like her big screen … Continue reading

Kate and Owen Hit It Again and Jennifer Hudson Hits the Road

Just days after she claimed that she was not interested in being in another relationship, actress Kate Hudson has found herself a date for Valentine’s Day. And a familiar one at that. According to reports, Hudson is hooking up with actor Owen Wilson… again. The pair reportedly spent the weekend together at Wilson’s Malibu beach house with Hudson’s 5-year-old son Ryder. The couple has been down this road a few times, most recently in February 2008, when they were caught snuggling at the Academy Awards. The 29-year-old starlet and the 40-year-old movie veteran continued to date until they reportedly suffered … Continue reading

Star News: George Clooney Returns, Marcia Cross Retreats, and Caroline Kennedy Reassesses Plans

It may be the worst kept secret in Hollywood. First he was, then he wasn’t, then he really wasn’t. But, now it appears George Clooney has finally decided that he will in fact grace the set of ER during the show’s farewell season. The hunky star is planning to return to the NBC drama that launched his career, according to sources close to the show. There’s no word on how many episodes the award-winning actor plans to appear in during the show’s final season, though rumor has it that ER co-creator John Wells has ordered a closed set to keep … Continue reading
