Actors that Turned Down Iconic Roles – Part One

Actors that Turned Down Iconic Roles – Part One Yesterday, I was reading at MSNBC how Nicholas Cage was once considered for the role of Randy “The Ram” Robinson in The Wrestler. In case you’ve been living in a cave, this was a role that went to ourke and resurrected his career, despite his losing the Best Actor Oscar this year to Sean Penn. Apparently, there had been rumors circulating that Cage was “let go” from the movie, but he cleared that up at the premiere of his newest movie Knowing. “I wasn’t quote “dropped” from the movie,” Cage told … Continue reading

Naomi Campbell Arrested…Again

I just do not understand what is up with modeling beauty Naomi Campbell. She is gorgeous, rich, and famous, yet something must be setting off these anger outbursts. Her rap sheet is longer than even the most diehard gansta rapper: In 2000, she pleaded guilty to a 1998 assault on Georgina Galanis, her own assistant. This assault included throwing Galanis from a moving car! The whole thing was dropped when Campbell expressed remorse, paid Galanis an unknown amount of money, and agreed to go to anger management classes. Not having learned much from the classes, Naomi was slapped (oops) in … Continue reading

Celebrities Turned Foodies

Usually it’s the other way around. Foodies or chefs are catapulted into stardom when enough of their to die for dishes become the talk of the town. (Think celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, and Paula Deen.) Enter Justin Timberlake. The singer turned fashion designer has just added a new line to his resume–restaurant owner. Timberlake (along with a posse of his celeb pals) brought some heat to the Big Apple last night by opening his new restaurant, Southern Hospitality. As its name suggests, the new eatery features southern comfort food with an emphasis on barbecue. Timberlake says he wanted … Continue reading

Who Says It Doesn’t Pay To Be Beautiful?

Apparently the bulk of the money I spend at Victoria’s Secret goes to pay their models. At least that is what I have surmised from glancing at Forbes.com’s list of the world’s richest models. The top grossing catwalker rakes in a cool $33 million a year. That honor goes to Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Leo’s ex (and Tom Brady’s current flame… at least until Friday) blows away her leggy competition when it comes to making money. Frankly, I was a bit shocked by the fact that Bundchen made more than Kate Moss (who came in at No.2) and Heidi Klum … Continue reading

The Diaries of Anna Nicole

Come now, did you really think the whole Anna Nicole Smith thing was going to die down after her autopsy results were announced? Just when it seemed that maybe, just maybe the only thing left to cover was Dannielynn’s paternity, someone comes up with two Anna Nicole diaries. It looks like no one will give Anna Nicole any rest, even in death. The diaries, in addition to other Anna Nicole memorabilia will be auctioned off in a couple of weeks by Heritage Auction Galleries. These diaries, from the early 90s, cover many personal aspects of her life including her issues … Continue reading

Anna Nicole’s Law School Legacy

Anna Nicole Smith’s roller coaster ride through stardom has been constant fodder for the media, but now the former Playboy Playmate’s life (and death) is serving a greater purpose… at law schools around the nation. While most of us were reading about Smith’s turbulent life as we waited in the check out line at the grocery store, students of estate law were following her legal battles as part their class curriculum. Smith’s lengthy, widely publicized legal feud with the family of her late husband, Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, over his estate is chronicled in the textbook, “Wills, … Continue reading

Tyra Banks Back In A Bikini

Recently I blogged about former super model Tyra Banks’ 20-pound weight gain and her in-your-face-finger-wagging rant to critics who called her “fat.” Now, Banks is sticking it to the tabloids yet again by modeling a bikini in this year’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. In 1997, Banks became the first black supermodel to appear solo on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition wearing a skimpy bikini. This week the model-turned-talk-show-host is marking the modeling milestone by donning the decade-old bikini to celebrate the special anniversary. The 33-year-old recently flew to the Bahamas to recreate the shoot that earned her … Continue reading
