This Week in Hollywood Couples

Another week, more news on Hollywood couples. This week, there were no breakups –at least none of which I can remember. This week, two-time mom Reese Witherspoon gave birth to her third child, a son named Tennessee James. Tennessee or James – whatever they are going to call him – is the first child for Witherspoon and second husband, Jim Toth. A statement was released that read in part, “Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled.” Witherspoon’s older two children are from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe. Witherspoon and Toth, a talent agent, … Continue reading

Lady Gaga Gets Bigger

Lady Gaga’s fame has seen an incredible increase within the past few years. After the release of The Fame in 2008, which included the hit “Poker Face,” her career took off dramatically. That was followed up with The Fame Monster, which produced hits “Bad Romance,” “Telephone,” and “Alejandro.” She went on tour for 18 months and it became one of the highest grossing tours ever. Born This Way was released in 2011 and sold a bazillion copies (okay, not really, but it did sell over a million copies the first week it was released). She has a devoted following (her … Continue reading

Crooner Andy Williams Dies at 84

Singer Andy Williams died this week of bladder cancer at his home in Branson, Missouri. He was 84. Williams started his career in the late ‘30s when he sang with his brothers as part of the Williams Brothers quartet. At the time, Williams was just 11, which may have been the reason he promoted the Osmond Brothers later in his career. By 1952, the quartet broke up, although they would reunite every year to appear on Williams’ show. Williams’s solo career took off when he began appearing as a regular on “Tonight Starring Steve Allen.” He had many successful singles, … Continue reading

NFL’s Biggest Blunder?

Now that Osama Bin Laden is dead, who is the most hated man in America? Another terrorist leader? A presidential candidate? The guy that made that terrible film that is creating such tension? Not even close. The most hated man in America is actually two men – two National League Football refs. That’s right. I went to sleep last night and left my husband downstairs watching the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks playing football. I am not really into football, but I couldn’t help but notice something odd had happened in last night’s game when I logged into … Continue reading

Lohan Calls Out Bynes in a Tweet

Call it a case of Disney vs. Nickelodeon, even if on the smallest of scales. Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes, most famous for “All That” and “The Amanda Show,” has had multiple run-ins with the police lately. The 26-year-old sideswiped a police car of all things on April 6th. She was released but later charged with DUI for refusing a breathalyzer test. Then, April 10th, she was involved in a hit-and-run. On August 4th, she rear-ended another motorist. She stopped briefly, but I guess thinking there was no damage, she left. But, there was damage and it turned out to … Continue reading

Oh No They Didn’t!

I am a big fan of memorials. I was a bit put out when the London Olympics didn’t have a moment of silence to honor the Israeli athletes that were murdered during the Munich games 40 years ago. Every September 11th, I try to watch a documentary – one of the gut wrenching ones – so I will remember the pain I felt that day and to pray for the victims and those they left behind. So needless to say, I was appalled today when I read that “The Today Show” chose to speak with Kris Jenner at 8:46 am … Continue reading

Hollywood Couples Update

As usual, there are always couple updates in Hollywood. First up, the not-so-good. He said/she said still seems to be going on between divorcing couple Seal and Heidi Klum. In fact, Seal often seems to be at war with what he himself says. At the first of this month, Seal told a TMZ reporter that “I would have thought that Heidi would have shown a little more class and at least waited until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were.” The “help” he’s referring to is the couple’s bodyguard, Martin Kristen, who has been … Continue reading

Clint Eastwood’s Big Speech

I didn’t watch the Republican National Convention. It’s okay I guess because I won’t watch the Democratic National Convention either. I just don’t care that much for politics. But, my cousin texted me this morning to see what I thought of Clint Eastwood’s speech last night. I told him I hadn’t heard it and he said I needed to check it out on CNN. So, I did. I wasn’t sure what I thought. Well, yes I was. It seemed like a Bob Newhart skit. Little did I know how accurate that was. Later I learned that Bob Newhart tweeted “I … Continue reading

Prince Harry Adds to a Long Line of Royal Scandals – Part 3

This is a continuing blog about royal families and scandals. Prince Harry is the latest royal in hot water, but the Monaco’s House of Grimaldi has certainly had its share of tragedies and scandals. American actress Grace Kelly married Monaco’s Prince Rainer III in 1956 in a fairy tale wedding. The couple had a seemingly happy marriage which produced three children – Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stephanie. However, tragedy struck in 1982 when Princess Grace died after a car wreck. Her daughter Stephanie was with her and rumors were that Stephanie was driving when the car careened down … Continue reading

Prince Harry Adds to a Long Line of Royal Scandals – Part 2

Earlier in the week, I blogged about Prince Harry and his recent naked in Vegas photo scandal. Reports are surfacing that the royal family is still behind the young prince and why not? There have been royal scandals in England for quite some time now. Here are a few that might put Harry’s antics to shame: King Edward VIII abdicated the thrown to marry Wallis Simpson. Not only was she American, but she had been divorced – twice – and it was later revealed she was a Nazi sympathizer. Harry’s aunt, Princess Anne, was married to Mark Phillips. That in … Continue reading
