“Slumdog” Kids Finally Get New Digs

After living on the streets for the past few weeks Slumdog Millionaire’s child stars Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali now have a new dilemma on their hands—deciding which new home to live in. According to reports, Slumdog director Danny Boyle got fed up with hearing about how poorly his young stars’ were being treated by the Indian government, so he flew to Mumbai this week and purchased new apartments for them. Shortly after Slumdog won the 2009 Oscar for best film, Boyle established the Jai Ho Trust to help fund 10-year-old Ismail and 9-year-old Ali’s education. However the generous scholarship … Continue reading

“Slumdog” Star’s Home Demolished

Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail no longer has a home in the slums of Mumbai. But, that’s not necessarily a good thing. City workers bulldozed the home of the “Slumdog Millionaire” child star, and now the 10-year-old boy and his family are reportedly homeless. According to reports, Azhar was hit by police and told to vacate his home. Shortly after the boy left his home, demolition crews leveled it along with 30 others. “A police officer took a bamboo stick to hit me, and I was frightened,” said Azhar. Authorities say Azhar’s family will be given a new home elsewhere, but so … Continue reading

Miley Cyrus’ Super Sweet 16

Did you really think that teen queen Miley Cyrus wouldn’t have a blowout bash to mark her 16th year of life? After all, she is competing with far less famous teens featured on MTV’s “Super Sweet 16” and she wouldn’t want a virtual nobody to out do her momentous milestone, right? That’s my thinking anyway when I learned what the “Hannah Montana” star has planned to ring in the big 1-6. For starters, in October Cyrus’ bosses at Disney plan to shut down Disneyland so the birthday girl can “go wild on all the crazy rides” without having to wait … Continue reading

Whatever Happened To…

Michael Conner Humphreys. Remember him? He was the child actor who played a young Forrest Gump on the big screen. Only, unlike many young stars that break into Hollywood before they can even legally drive, Humphreys didn’t stay long. He took gigs here and there, but when he was 18 he joined the Army and fought in an unpopular war. Today, Humphreys is less than a month shy of completing his enlistment and he says he is ready to head back to the silver screen. And he won’t have to wait long before he gets paid to do so. According … Continue reading

Marie Osmond—Her Lips are Flapping But is Anything Coming Out?

Here we go again… Apparently, there are very few stars in Hollywood who understand that there are benefits to remaining mum on certain topics. No, discretion is not a celebrity strong point and Marie Osmond is a perfect example. The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant has decided the world would be a better place if we all knew how she felt about the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair picture brouhaha. Yesterday, Osmond went public blaming Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus for leaving his 15-year-old daughter alone during the photo shoot (F.Y.I. Miley’s grandmother and teacher remained with the teen when … Continue reading

Oh My… Miley! G-Rated Star Appears in PG-13 Photos

So, by now I’m sure you are well aware of the whole Miley Cyrus provocative photo brouhaha. For those of you who have been blissfully living in a media-free world allow me to give you an update: The 15-year-old squeaky-clean Disney star might want to stay away from digital cameras for a while. The teen is currently embroiled in two front-page controversies both of which involve racy pictures of her. Last week the singer-actress went on the defensive when “playfully provocative” photos of her posing on her ex-boyfriend’s lap showed up on the Internet. (Cyrus called them “silly.”) In one … Continue reading

How You Can Watch Gary Coleman’s Divorce Unfold on National TV

When 40-year-old actor Gary Coleman married his 22-year-old wife, Shannon Price last August no one questioned if the union would last, but rather when it would end. Well, we got the answer. If you guessed eight months then consider yourself the winner in this losing partnership. According to Coleman, the honeymoon was over a long time ago, but he and his wife only got around to filing for divorce a few weeks ago. It’s probably because they were waiting for May sweeps. Yeah, you read right—-May TV sweeps. That all important time when networks vie for as many viewers as … Continue reading

Big Breaks

It’s good news all around for a couple of lesser-known names trying to make their big break in the world of entertainment. First up: Michael Symon. I know. Michael who? If you aren’t a regular viewer of Food Network’s “Iron Chef” series then you likely have no clue who Michael Symon is. The Ohio cook won the network’s “The Next Iron Chef” competition in 2007 and appears on its “Iron Chef America” series, but now you’ll be seeing his mug even more. Earlier this week the folks at Food Network announced that Symon will take over as host of the … Continue reading

Surprise Support for Jamie Lynn Spears

Who’s the last person in the world of entertainment you would expect to lend support (publicly) to a pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears? If you guessed Blair Warner you’d be very close. Actually, the answer is Lisa Whelchel, the actress who played the preppy boarding school student on the 1980’s hit “Facts of Life.” The 16-year-old Nickelodeon star hasn’t had a ton of support thrown her way (at least not publicly) since she made her big announcement a few days ago. Then, virtually out of left field comes 44-year-old Whelchel who contacted ABC News so she could comment on Brit’s baby … Continue reading

What Would You Do For “Hannah Montana” Tickets?

I love my daughter more than words could possibly express. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her… except, perhaps, spend 144 hours hugging a statute of “Hannah Montana.” Actually, I’d probably do that too. Thankfully, though, I haven’t been put in that position. Which is more than can be said for Jody Powell. The 35-year-old soon-to-be step father of a die-hard “Hannah Montana” fan hung on to a 12-foot statue of “Hannah Montana” for the better part of six days to win tickets to a sold-out concert by Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel TV series. The Tampa … Continue reading
