Catching Up with Britney Spears

Britney Spears seems to be making a comeback and while her life is still probably considered crazy by some standards, things do seem to be working out well for the former pop queen. She’s getting ready to head out on her Circus tour in March, but she may not be alone. Custody arrangements are being worked out with her ex, Kevin Federline, so Britney will be able to have her boys join her on the road. Right now, Kevin has primary custody with Britney having 50-50 access to them in visitation rights, so Kevin is working on a schedule where … Continue reading

Rumor Report: Demi and Ashton, Farrah Fawcett and Bobby Brown

Demi Moore is warning you not to believe the rumors that say she and her husband Ashton Kutcher are adopting a baby. The 46-year-old is blasting the National Enquirer for reporting that she and her hunky husband failed to conceive a child naturally and were preparing to adopt a baby. According to the National Enquirer story, Moore and Kutcher “always resisted adoption because they wanted a baby of their own” adding, “but now everything has changed… after all the disappointments and the IVF treatments, everyone is really excited that they are making their dream come true. It’s a win-win situation.” … Continue reading

Playing the Blame Game: Jessica Simpson’s Parents and Grandmother of Octuplets

Jessica Simpson’s parents say they know who’s responsible for making their daughter “look” fat: Her stylist. According to reports, the singer’s parents are “extremely upset” about the vicious skewering their precious daughter has endured since unflattering shots taken of her at a recent concert surfaced. Jessica’s dad Joe has nothing but praise for the way his daughter has handled the fat jokes hurled in her direction. Conversely, he has nothing but ire for Jessica’s stylist. According to Joe Simpson, Jessica’s alleged “weight gain” has more to do with bad styling and poor photography than a purported relationship with Ronald McDonald. … Continue reading

Posthumous Oscars

This year, the forerunner for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor seems to be Heath Ledger, nominated for his searing performance as The Joke in The Dark Knight. Ledger received the nomination on January 22 – the one year anniversary of his death. (This image, by Howie Berlin, is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.0 License) In case you were wondering, other actors have been nominated for Oscars posthumously. In the past 81 years, 53 people have received 70 posthumous nominations with 13 of them winning. The first person nominated for an Oscar after his death was writer … Continue reading

Do You Think Jessica Simpson is Fat?

A slew of tabloids do and they are milking photos of the bigger blonde songstress for all they’re worth. And so it begins… another round of who’s fat in Hollywood. Jessica Simpson has been the talk of the World Wide Web since showing up to a concert gig wearing high-waisted jeans, a tank top, and the most hideous looking double-decker leopard print belt I’ve ever seen in my life. Forget about Simpson’s weight gain people… let’s talk about her choice in clothing! All week long the tabloids have been poking fun at the “porkier” version of the once rail-thin singer … Continue reading

Joaquin Phoenix.. . .Rapper?

Recently, Academy Award nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix kissed acting goodbye, saying he was leaving to pursue a career in music. Or, did he? When I first read that Joaquin was not going to act anymore, I was saddened. I’ve loved his performance in many movies, but knowing a little about his family background, I wasn’t surprised. In case you didn’t know, Joaquin and his siblings (River, Rain, Liberty, and Summer) were brought up in a less than traditional atmosphere. Their parents, John and Arlyn, were members of the religion Children of God. The Phoenix children spent most of their childhood … Continue reading

Terrell Owens Gets Reality Show

Football fans may or may not like it, but Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens is going to be the star of his own reality show. The reason I say fans may or may not like it is because many fans don’t like Owen due to his outspokenness and huge ego. It’s not that Owens cannot deliver on the field – he can. Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1996 NFL draft, he helped the team win 13 games that year. In 2000, he made 20 catches for 283 yards, breaking a 50 year old NFL record. However, … Continue reading

Steve Martin Makes History and Sarah Palin Goes for Broke

There is just something about Steve Martin that makes me melt… like chocolate on a hot sidewalk. He is one of my favorite actors, and I am now counting down the days until he makes history on NBC. The super funnyman is set to host “Saturday Night Live” for a record 15th time on January 31st. This will be his first appearance in three years. I can’t wait! Martin is the reason I‘ve seen “Father of the Bride,“ Cheaper by the Dozen,” “The Jerk,” “All of Me” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “L.A. Story,” “Parenthood” and “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” more than … Continue reading

Barack Obama Inspired by Abraham Lincoln

In case you’ve missed it in the news, Barack Obama seems to be taking quite a bit of inspiration from our sixteenth President Abraham Lincoln. This is understandable considering the two have quite a bit in common. (This image is in the public domain because its copyright has expired.) Both presidents were born in other states, but hail from Illinois. However that seems to be one of the weaker links between the two. Both possess a similar body type (tall and somewhat angular), appear humble and sincere to the public, will have had young children in the White House while … Continue reading

Penn, Teller, & James Randi

Last Friday, I watched “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” I love trying to get the lyrics correct on this game show, but usually, I record it and fast forward through the unnecessary dialogue that occurs. I mean really, did Monty Hall have to do contestant family reunions to get ratings? Would Chuck Woolery have stalled like Howie Mandel does? No. But, this past week was a special charity episode featuring illusionists Penn &Teller. I’ve written about Penn & Teller before because they are not only amazing illusionists, but also hilarious. Because of this, I decided to watch the entire show. Penn … Continue reading
