Getting on a Scrapbook Design Team

So many of us, after we have been scrapping for years, want to get on a design team for a blog or website. This is not always easy. The benefit to many design teams is that you get free kits, or scrapbooking supplies to keep promoting certain products for the website. Each design team call has a lot of rules, and usually, a lot of submissions. Often times, they are looking for someone who can itemize ever product on their scrapbook layout and where it came from. This is something I’ve always struggled with. Once I open something, I often … Continue reading

What’s Your Favorite Color?

As scrapbookers, we think a lot about color. Which ones look good together, and which ones absolutely do not. Have you ever thought about what you would do if you could only use 3 colors on your scrapbook layouts? I saw this question asked in a scrapbooking forum, and it got me thinking. For one, I almost always want to use black and white on every layout. It’s a thing of mine. I like bright bold colors, and it seems that if I throw some black and white in there too, that I have the perfect, eclectic look I love. … Continue reading

My New Year’s Scrapping Resolutions

I don’t normally do New Year’s resolutions. Mainly because I never stick to them. But, it’s fun to set goals, and it always gives you something to strive for. And, seeing as it is the last day of 2010, why not set some goals for the upcoming year. So, here I am. These are just for sharing. Every scrapper has their own goals of what they want to achieve. Maybe you need to cut back on your spending, or learn a new technique, whatever it is that you want to accomplish this upcoming year, write it down, and hang it … Continue reading

Scrapbooking to Overcome Christmas Stress

Recently, I got myself involved in this huge project. I decided to make 75 ornaments for a church Christmas party that I am in charge of this week. It has been a lot of work being in charge of a party for 150 people. I have never done anything like this before. The stress of it is pretty overwhelming. Combine that with my regular holiday stress of shopping, five Christmas parties to attend, and family coming into town, I was feeling really stressed out, and a little like the Grinch. I wanted to get rid of Christmas. The ornaments were … Continue reading

So THANKFUL for Scrapbooking

In the season of Thanksgiving, and all things yummy, I am thankful for many things. Just one of which is scrapbooking. While it may seem trivial to some, or a “waste” of time and money, I am truly grateful for this hobby which means so much to me. Since Thanksgiving was yesterday, hopefully we all had the chance to express to our friends and loved ones the more important things that we are thankful for like good health, family, friends, etc. But, just for fun, today, I want to express the things I am thankful for about Scrapbooking. 1. It … Continue reading

A Scrapper’s Self-Realization

Doing something artistic can help you realize things about yourself that you never knew. It can open your mind, and your view on things that maybe you did not think you wanted to know anything about. Today, I realized something about myself. While I love paper crafting, and love scrapbooking, I do NOT love card making. I had to put together some cards for an activity for my church for the young girls to make cards to thank someone during this holiday season. I wanted to get the cards pre-cut and measured ahead of time so that all would go … Continue reading

Do Others Think Your Hobby is a “Waste”

I have heard others scrappers say that other people in their lives just don’t understand scrapbooking. I have a family member of my own that also doesn’t get it. Do you have someone in your life that views scrapbooking as a waste?? What do you say to someone who feels your hobby is a waste? Here are some fun ideas: *Tell them that this is your way of preserving your family history *Explain that this is your creative outlet, and while you could just slap some photos in a book, you choose to honor your photos! *Let them know that … Continue reading

Are You Obsessed with Scrapbooking?

So, when you are absolutely obsessed with scrapbooking, you realize it almost daily. I decided that I was going to take a week or so break for creating any new layouts. Last month, I participated in several scrapbooking challenges online, and had a good time doing it. But, that was also time consuming for me. I love getting the feedback on my own layouts, and getting to see the creativity of others’ too. But, it was a lot of work. So, thus the needed vacation. But, then tragedy struck. I bought more supplies. And, you know what that means….when you … Continue reading

Scrapbooking is Supposed to Be Fun!

Do you ever feel bogged down by your scrapbooking? I do. Sometimes I look at all those photos, or I think about how behind I am already, and I just say, “What is the point?”. On those days, I don’t scrapbook. Shocker, I know. But, what IS the point if you are not inspired? What IS the point if you are not having fun? We could easily put our photos in your normal photo albums and look at them at our leisure, but in my opinion, the whole point of scrapbooking is to have fun creating a memory that you … Continue reading
