Confessions of a Messy Scrapbooker

I am a messy scrapbooker. I like to start with my space neat and tidy, but by the end of things, it is a disaster area. Truly. Yet, I think some people might look at my pages and think I am a messy scrapbooker on my layouts as well. I love my style of scrapbooking, but I can appreciate that others may not. So here are a few of my confessions for what I believe make me a messy scrapbooker. I hate straight lines. To get out my ruler or my paper cutter means I have tried several times to … Continue reading

Is Scrapbooking A Spectator Sport?

So, we all know that scrapbooking is technically NOT a sport at all, but wouldn’t it be interesting if it were? But, since we know it’s not going to make the Olympics anytime soon, let’s just pretend that it is for just one second. Are there spectators? Many times, it feels like there is no one that cares other than us about our beautiful scrapbook pages. For some people, that is just fine. They are content creating and scrapping even if no one is watching. But, in this age of the Internet, and everyone being everywhere all the time, it’s … Continue reading

My Scrapbooking Hobby

This probably should have been one of my first posts. Why do I love to scrapbook? Everyone has their own reasons for doing this hobby. Some people probably just don’t get it. All of those hours spend cutting, and glueing and piecing together tiny objects may sound horrible, but to me, it sounds heavenly. At first, it was just a way for me to put pictures on a page to make it look more interesting. Then, it became a creative art. It was an evolution to get to that point. For me, it took a few years of doing simple … Continue reading

What Album Do I Put That In?

Here is a problem I have had that I think I have resolved. I have two kids, and of course, they are the focus of most of my scrapbook pages. However, I have wondered if when they are older am I going to give these albums to them, or keep them for myself? I do have baby books for them also. However, those books do not have many pictures in them. So, the majority of their lives are documented in the scrapbooks. I do not believe that you always have to scrapbook in chronological order. So, I have decided that … Continue reading

Scrapbooking When You Have Kids Under Your Feet

As time has gone on, my scrapbooking supplies have grown. Probably quadrupled since that first set of supplies I bought. My family has grown too. When I first started scrapbooking, I had no children, and lots of time. Oh how I wish I had that kind of time now. But, I don’t, and being a stay at home Mom of two kids that are still at home makes it challenging. I don’t want to put my scrapbooking on hold until they are in school, but, I have to prioritize and figure out ways to keep them happy while I sneak … Continue reading

What the Amish and Babe Ruth Have in Common: Tracing My Family Genealogy

I’ve just recently begun my study of our family’s history. Truthfully, it’s my husband’s family history I’m tracing rather than my own–but it doesn’t matter to me. I find myself fascinated by the stories woven throughout our family timeline and to think that I’m a part of all that. Of course my job is made easier because my husband’s side of the family actually keeps family records of every marriage, birth death and major life event. We have them all the way from the first arrival at Ellis Island. A Little Bit of Amish As it turns out, my mother … Continue reading

I Found a Scrapbooking Video Game!

I thought that headline might catch your attention. I actually did find a scrapbooking video game and was quite surprised at how addicting it is. It’s a lot like my scrapbooking hobby that I am addicted to. The game is actually quite fun. Maybe some of you have heard about it before, but it was brand new to me. At first I was a bit skeptical, I wondered how someone could create a video game out of scrapbooking, even if it had gone digital. But Big Fish games has done it and created Scrapbooking Paige. Scrapbooking Paige is a hidden … Continue reading

Don’t Waste Your Money on Scrapbooking Magazines

It goes without saying, that if you have a very favorite scrapbooking magazine, there is nobody that should influence your decision to purchase it. Especially if it keeps your mo-jo flowing and the churning out of scrapbooking layouts. So why did I title this post this way? Scrapbooking magazines have taken a major nose dive in the past several years. I was recently cleaning out my bookshelf where I have a collection of scrapbooking magazines that should put me to shame. I While they go back all the way to the mid 90’s, I was started to see that in … Continue reading

What is Hybrid Scrapbooking?

If you are active in the scrapbooking community at all, you might have seen reference to a new term dubbed hybrid scrapbooking. But what in the world does it mean?
