Scrapping Beach Memories

Some of my most beloved scrapbooks are ones that chronicle my daughter’s adventures at the beach. Since we spend a good chunk of time in Hawaii visiting my immediate family each year, I have no shortage of incredible photos of my daughter frolicking in the waves and on the sand. I have also collected a decent amount of memorabilia, from sand dollars to scraps of kite tails. In regards to embellishments, well, that’s another story. Since I don’t have a lot of money to spend on my scrapbook hobby, I tend to find frugal ways to embellish my layouts. When … Continue reading

More Ideas for Baby Scrapbooks

Baby scrapbooks are considered the foundation of scrapping since most scrappers get their start by creating books for their children. However, just because a baby book is your first step into the world of scrapping, you don’t have to settle for elementary layout designs. There are thousands of embellishments, paper and ideas that can easily be incorporated into a baby scrapbook and more are debuting every day. For example, a couple of weeks ago I saw the cutest Dr. Seuss quotes for scrapbooks. The popular children’s book author has a slew of whimsical words of wisdom to add to scrapbooks … Continue reading

Organizing a Baby Book

Most first time scrappers start out making a baby book and move on from there. A baby scrapbook is a great way to get your feet wet scrapping. After all, baby scrapbooks don’t have to be finished in a day, week or even a month. Most baby scrapbooks are pieced together bit by bit. When I started my daughter’s first scrapbook she was about two months old. Since I was a new mom I didn’t have the time or energy to create unique layouts on a daily basis. However, I stayed organized by taking photos on a regular basis and … Continue reading

Scrapping Puppy Love

Most pet owners love their fur babies as much (and at times, more) than their human offspring. Consequently, it stand to reason that the four-legged members of the family get equal time when comes to scrapbook space. One of my best friend’s is a huge animal lover. She has three dogs, two cats, a horse, a gerbil, chickens and a bunny. Oh, and she has four children too. Given the size of her brood, it’s no surprise that most of her scrapbooks contain an equal mix of pets and kids. What makes her layouts so special is the way she … Continue reading

Summer Scrapping

If you are like me, then you have a mountain of photos taken from your family’s summer adventures sitting on your desk waiting to be placed in a scrapbook. I have a million of ideas for summer-themed layouts, but have yet to organize all of the elements needed to create the perfect book. My goal is to have all 1000-plus summer photos sorted by Christmas… I mean… the end of September. Wishful thinking? Maybe. Here are some of the layouts I have been working on: PICNIC Layout featuring a picnic basket. I have a large die cut of a picnic … Continue reading

Dad’s Scrapbook

My dad is the anti-scrapper. Heck, he even despises posing for photos, so making him his own scrapbook is something I never considered doing. However, after paging through one that my pal just made for her motorcycle enthusiast dad, I am seriously reconsidering making one for my own father. The scrapbook my pal made is unbelievable. If you have a biker in your family or in your circle of friends, then you might be inspired by a few of her layout designs: Hog Wild: My friend’s dad rides a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which features a classic style and distinctive design. … Continue reading

Don’t Throw Away Your Cards

I don’t know if you are anything like me but I save most of the cards that I receive. I save any card that has been for encouragement or to get well. I have some birthday cards that are extra special, too. It has become a pretty big pile of cards and although I hate to part with them, I know that I need to do something with them. On my quest to think of original scrapbook albums that can be created it came to my mind that I could create a card scrapbook. This would actually be a pretty … Continue reading
