Working It Off!

Everyone knows just how important exercising is not only for dieters, but for everyone. Exercising has great health benefits in your quest for weight loss or just to stay healthy and in shape. If you are like me you prefer exercising outdoors. Whether it is walking, biking, jogging or what have you, there is just something invigorating about doing your exercise outside in the wide-open space and fresh air. In some parts of the world this is not always possible due to inclement weather. Where I am right now it is 10 degrees and snowing so going outside is not … Continue reading

Of course, the more out of shape you are the harder and longer you will have to work on it, but it is possible at any age. Meet Morjorie Newlin (1920-2008) Amazing, absolutely amazing! Weight Loss and Walking the Walk

My Journey As a new discoverer of Leslie Sansone, I am thrilled. Not only is she inspirational and motivational, her workouts can be done all in the privacy and comfort of your own home. I know that when I get home from working all day the last thing that I want to do is get ready to go back out of the house to go to the gym. For most people, myself included, there are just not enough hours in the day and time is precious. In order to fit all that I have to do into my day, I … Continue reading

Dieting and A Little Bit of Urban Rebounding

My Dieting Journey My diet and fitness journey started a little over three years ago when I made a conscious effort to get healthy. I will admit, my impending health problems helped to prompt this newfound effort and I went at it in full swing. With determination and perseverance, I dieted and exercised faithfully for about 2 hours each and every day. I cut myself no slack and even one day a week without exercise was out of the question for me. I had made up my mind that I would become healthier and nothing would stand in my way. … Continue reading

Jiggle, Jiggle, Go Away!

That Awful Jiggle You do not notice it until you go to wave good-bye to someone and then to your dreaded horror, you look down and see it. It is that flap of skin that jiggles back and forth on the underside of your arm. You say to yourself, “Where did that come from? I have never had that there before.” No, you probably did not, but that was before you turned 40. Although it can appear at anytime in anyone with excess weight, it is more common in the middle years of your life. That is the time when … Continue reading

Move More, Not Harder

Two new research studies that I read this week suggest that moving longer, but not harder is the magic key to exercising for weight loss. 48 Minutes to a Slimmer You When it comes to taking off weight, researchers are saying that it is better to move moderately for longer than it is to move more intensely. A University of Pittsburgh study recently published reports that women who exercised for 48 mintues per day at a moderate intensity lost 500% more weight than did women who exercised at a high intensity for only 20 minutes per day. To put that … Continue reading

Clothing That Makes You Lose Weight?

This came across my desk today and I had to take a second look. I get the whole concept of wearing flattering clothing so that you look thinner. I think I live in black shorts so that my rear end looks just a tad smaller. But this takes that concept to a whole new level. AbsAthletic has just launched a whole new line of FIRE clothing. What exactly does FIRE stand for you ask? That would be Far Infra Red Energy. It claims that exercising in FIRE clothing will boost your metabolism and you will burn more calories. How It … Continue reading

Thinking Away the Pounds: A Study of 84 Housekeepers

According to a study conducted by Harvard University psychologist Ellen Langer and her student Alia Crum, perceiving you’re getting enough exercise may help you to lose weight. The results of the study show that it is possible to think your way to a healthier body while you get those daily chores done. Eighty-four housekeepers from seven Boston hotels participated in Langer’s study. The women were between the ages of 18-55 years old. They were divided into two groups. Women from four of the hotels were told they were getting adequate exercise by performing their daily work. The women in the … Continue reading
