Jello Week

According to the American Food and Drink Days website, this week is Jell-O week. I may have to pull out the Jell-O products I have in my cupboard and whip something fun. Jell-O is a great snack or dessert to eat on a diet. The gelatin is low in calories and fat free. You can also purchase sugar free, if you are interested. Pudding can be made with skim milk to cut out calories and fat. It just may be able to satisfy the sweet tooth of a craving dieter. Cool Find: Callet

Since my children are involved in YMCA classes I try to use that time to work out. The last time I was getting ready to walk in I grumble about having to take in my membership card, money, and phone. I do not want to take in my purse and I do not always have pockets for my belongings. I end up fumbling around and using the cup holders in the elliptical machines to house my chaotic mess. I cannot tell you how many times I dropped my membership card. If felt so foolish like the kid in school who … Continue reading

Ode to My Blender

My husband is famous for making protein drinks and slushies. I am famous for taking advantage of that skill by drinking the protein drinks and slushies. During the warm months we make slushies on a regular basis. Since this treat can be filled with sugar and fat we trim it down by using fresh fruit, yogurt or frozen yogurt as our main ingredients. Over the years we have gone through several blenders. We even destroyed the ones they said we could not destroy. Either the blenders were lost due to their lack of ice crushing power or the glass container … Continue reading

Then I was presented with an opportunity to review a scale. How could I turn that down? At least if this scale was … Continue reading

Buy New Dishes to Lose Weight

If you haven’t tried this portion control secret you should: eat off smaller plates. We have found this to be especially effective since our family has gotten larger and I find myself making several different dishes for dinner. There’s something about a table full of food and the daunting task of either throwing food out or coaxing another meal out of leftovers that leads us to filling up our plates again. . .and again. . .and again. But choosing to pile your food up on a small plate (which in turn leads to smaller piles) will lead you to take … Continue reading
