The Biggest Loser–Did You Watch The Finale?

Sorry this post has taken me so long to get to. Did you happen to watch the finale of The Biggest Loser? I did and, as usual, I nearly fell out of my seat. The contestants all worked so hard, and seeing their amazing accomplishments made me both jealous and proud. Even the contestants who didn’t make it to the Ranch lost a ton of weight. Remember Poppy from New Jersey? I have to admit her personality bugged me just a bit (okay, a little more than a bit but I’m being nice). Well, her weight loss of 117 pounds … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser—The Final FOUR!

Can you believe they’re already down to the final four? I can’t. It seems like only last week that the contestants came to the ranch, desperate to lose weight. But now—now they’ve lost as much as 124 pounds! Now they’ve gone down dress sizes, pant sizes, and shirt sizes. Their bodies have shrunk. Their confidence has grown. Their stamina, determination, and sheer dedication have paid off and THEY’VE MADE IT!!!!!!!! I’m watching the show now, and my heart is filled with pride for these individuals I don’t even know. I want to be like them, to stick with a plan … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser—Big numbers…again

Again I watched The Biggest Loser, and again I could not believe the numbers that came out with the weigh-in. Before I get to that though– it was an action-packed night for The Biggest Loser contestants. First, Erik got reamed by Trainer Bob (who couldn’t see THAT coming?) when he voted off his Blue Team member Marty. I can only imagine how Erik felt, given the fact that Bob’s tears even left ME misty-eyed. But like Erik said, a game is a game. What he may not have thought out though, was that, by voting out Marty, he was now … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser: Did You See Marty?

Last night’s Biggest Loser episode was interesting to watch for many reasons. First, Adrian had a total meltdown, not once but twice. I can only imagine how the other contestants must have felt listening to her go on and on about how unfair everything was. After all, they were at the ranch weeks before Adrian arrived, and never once did any of them put on the show that she did. In her defense (because I think she needs it) I can also only imagine how difficult it must have been for her to come to the ranch and have to … Continue reading

Want to Lose Weight? Just Watch Dancing With the Stars

I’m sitting here after eating too many cookies, watching Dancing With the Stars. Mario and Karina are sashaying across the dance floor right now. Their moves are great, but all I can think is, “My gosh, I wish I could wear that outfit.” Seriously. It barely covers anything, but it looks elegant. And with abs of steel, who cares if you bare your midriff? Heck, I’d be baring it all too if I had that figure. Have you seen these dancers bodies on Dancing With the Stars? They put any movie star out there to sheer shame. But I’m sure … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser—They’re Baaaaaaack!

Last night was tense on The Biggest Loser. Two new contestants were introduced to the “game.” Actually, they weren’t “new” per say; they were part of the original 50 contestants who appeared in Episode One. When they (Adrian and Jaron) walked in the room, you could feel the tension rising. Understandably, the contestants who’d been at the ranch the entire time were peeved that people who hadn’t been going through all that they had, could come to the game at this point. Imagine their surprise when they realized that Adrian and Jaron had lost more weight than they had—from home. … Continue reading

Dr. Oz’s Tips for Weight Loss

Here are some more tips I got from watching Dr. Mehmet Oz on The Oprah Winfrey Show the other day: Red pepper and cinnamon reduce cravings – go ahead, kick up the flavor of your foods. Add red pepper to your eggs, soups, etc. And don’t forget a sprinkle of cinnamon in your morning oatmeal or banana muffins. Eat breakfast – we’ve heard this one so many times, but for some reason, people are still not eating breakfast. We’re all busy. We all have schedules and places we need to be, but with a little planning we can all make … Continue reading

Forget Your Weight: What’s Your Waist Size?

It’s not about your weight…it’s about your waist-size. That’s frightening news for a lot of apple-shaped men and women, who carry excess weight around their waists. Today I heard Dr. Mehmet Oz speaking about weight loss and the dangers of being overweight. His message was simple: the key to achieving the best body for you has everything to do with your waist line. He stated matter of factly that large hips or thighs may cost a person a few dates, but that a large waistline may cost them their life. According to Dr. Oz, when a woman’s waist is larger … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser—Weight GAIN

Tonight, it was painful to watch the Biggest Loser. First, the contestants had to pair up with a member of the other team. Then they were told that one team would be eliminated at the next weigh in—that’s two people instead of the usual one. And it meant that the teams had to rely heavily on their partner to help carry the weight (or lose the weight). For this reason, the weigh in was especially difficult to watch. Every person who has ever struggled to lose weight, who has ever tirelessly cut calories and worked out could feel Erik’s pain … Continue reading

The Biggest Loser – 138 pounds???

I wasn’t surprised this week when the Biggest Loser participants lost a lot of weight. Even though in normal circumstances, a weight loss as big as 7 pounds after week three would be considered a miracle, these folks are living and breathing their fitness plan. But still, I wasn’t prepared to see the Blue team members lose as much as they did. After all, two of them couldn’t train with Bob all week, and the other two had to eat out all week! To have them still lose an average of 13 pounds each was astounding. It showed their dedication, … Continue reading
