GONE!
So much for Star Jones’s big TV comeback.
The ex-“View” co-host spent months promoting her latest venture–“The Star Jones Show”—–but now it appears the program couldn’t live up to the hype.
According to show producers, Jones’ show is getting axed from the TruTV (formerly Court TV) line-up. The network says the move was a “mutual agreement” between Jones and TruTV execs.
Network bigwigs also noted that they plan to rebrand and refocus remaining programs. In the meantime, Jones will continue as a contributing legal expert on the network’s weekday “IN SESSION” trial coverage.
If you’ve never seen the program before today is your last chance. The live show airs at 3 p.m. and for the past four months it aimed to bridge the worlds of law and entertainment with Jones, a former Brooklyn prosecutor who got her start on TV as a commentator during the O.J. Simpson trial, as its host.
NOT FORGOTTEN
Less than two weeks after her death from respiratory failure actress Suzanne Pleshette got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The ceremony took place yesterday on what would have been Pleshette’s 71st birthday.
The former “Newhart” star had battled lung cancer since 2006 and died on January 19th. In addition to her noteworthy role on “The Bob Newhart Show,” Pleshette also starred on the big screen and on Broadway.
As a tribute to his former co-star Bob Newhart attended the star’s unveiling, which had been planned before Pleshette’s death.
“The only thing that exceeds her talent and her beauty was her bravery, because she was one of the greatest women,” Newhart said.
“Many people walk through your life and very few people leave footprints on your heart,” said Marcia Wallace, another “Newhart” co-star who attended yesterday’s ceremony. “She left footprints on my heart, and now we can all leave our footprints on her star. She’d love it.”
Newhart spoke at the dedication, but it was Tina Sinatra, a daughter of Frank Sinatra, who accepted the walk’s 2,355th star on Pleshette’s behalf.
