Two years ago today I officially started on with Families.com as one of their newest Pets Bloggers. Ironically enough, two years later on my anniversary date, here I’ve turned in my two weeks notice. (I just realized as I started writing this that I did that on my start date anniversary.)
It’s been a good ride, a very fun ride, and an amazingly informative one. I’ll still be around for the next couple of weeks, but I wanted to take a moment and reflect on some of my favorite blogs from the past couple of years.
A Few of My Favorite Blogs
- I’ve really enjoyed, and learned a lot from Aimee’s Diary of a Cat Care B&B articles. Stories like how she was the object of a cat grooming and the mis-naming of cats are two articles that are particularly memorable to me.
- Thanks to this job, I’ve also learned a lot about how I can help animals in different ways. I’ve tried to pass on such tips in articles like Five Ways to Be an Angel for Animals This Holiday Season, How to Adopt a Pet Without Adopting the Responsibility, and Hunters Aren’t Evil and Other Things Researching Charities Taught Me. I’ve also learned a few things from articles like Six Creative Fundraising Ideas and Ten Ways to Help Your Shelter.
- I’ve learned a lot about animal conservation and have felt both enlightened and inspired by blogs like Wolf Protection Restored, Teaching Survival Skills to Pandas, and Small Steps Can Save Giant Sea Turtles.
- I’ve been touched by stories like that of the baby water buffalo who survived both a lion and crocodile attack, and have been blown away by ones like the kennel who returned the wrong dog to its owner.
- I’ve gotten some good chuckles from titles and their respective stories like Turtles in the ‘Hood, Waiter! There’s a Cougar in My Hot Tub!, Courtney and Crew Present: The Case of Who Cut the Cheese, Bed Wars, and Chaotic Cat Chronicles: Crouching Meowy, Flying Tabby (Hidden Murphy).
- Lastly, some of my newer favorites, ones posted in the last few weeks, include Ask a Pets Blogger: Crate Time, Are Dogs Taking Over Hollywood?, Virtual Pets, Treating Flatulence in Pets, and Remembering Cher Ami and Other Veteran Carrier Pigeons.
Yes, it’s been a heck of a ride. Reflecting back makes me realize how much I’ll miss contributing on a regular basis, and how much I’ve really enjoyed doing it the past two years.
Courtney Mroch writes about animals great and small in Pets and the harmony and strife that encompasses married life in Marriage. For a full listing of her articles click here.
