We’ve had Tabby a year already? It seems hard to believe. It went so fast! But, yep, we have.
It was one year ago today that our lives changed forever when I made the snap decision to screech to a stop in the middle of the road and snatch up the little cat lying in the middle of the street.
What a year it’s been!
It started out chaotic. In case you don’t remember or are a new reader, let me catch you up to speed:
First we feared she might be pregnant. Then we found out she was when she got spayed. Then she developed mastitis and almost died. She recovered from that only to endure an erupting pus incident which had me rushing her back to the vet. (Luckily that was not life-threatening, just disturbingly gross.)
We finally got her healthy physically, but there was still the matter of getting her to act civilized towards Mr. Meow. So started the Great Cat Rehabilitation process where we instituted a healthy regime of positive reinforcement training.
By May there was progress that led to huge strides, even further strides, and finally total success!
She’s batted blinds, battled an eating disorder, found something more appropriate to torment besides her Brother Meow (her Wiffie), but for all the chaos she tried to cause, she’s only completely and irreversibly embedded herself in our hearts forever and always.
So, Tabby, on your FoundYa’ Day (to borrow from an expression MissyChrissy shared in the forums), I celebrate you.
Thank you for the mweeping meows you great me with morning and night. Thank you for all the times you seek out my lap as a sleeping place, and the cold nights you snug tight against my legs in bed and keep me warm. Thank you for being the sweetest girl to your Murphy and now also your Brother Meow.
But most of all, thank you for trusting me that cold February afternoon last year when I picked you up. Thank you for not struggling or jumping from my grasp. Thank you for recognizing me as your Mama the moment you felt my embrace.
I love you, my darling little Lady Tabernathy, Tabitha, Tabberkins, Tabby Girl. Happy Birthday!
