Celebrities and Their Christmas Charities

It’s better to give than receive… at least that’s what some Hollywood stars are learning this holiday season. Celebs from Mel Gibson to Marcia Cross are spreading the Christmas spirit with donations to their favorite charities. If you are searching for a last-minute gift idea for your loved ones consider perusing the following list. It’s Christmas Eve after all, the perfect time to make someone else’s life a whole lot merrier.

Feed the World. Marcia Cross and Teri Hatcher gave their co-workers FEED 1 bags this holiday season. The bags are designed to benefit the United Nations World Food Program’s (WFP) School Feeding operations, which provides children with a nutritious meal a day and gives them incentive to get an education. You can get your own for $60 by clicking here.

ASPCA. Paris Hilton’s pet charity is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. You too can be an angel to an animal by becoming a monthly donor. Or just in time for Christmas you can purchase holiday donor gift cards in honor of your favorite animal lover—and save the life of a homeless cat or dog.

Heifer International. You can help save the live of poverty stricken families by donating to Heifer International. The group provides cows, sheep, and flocks of chicken to poor families around the globe.

Tonic Gear. The company manufacturers trendy graphic tees and the profits help fund life-changing necessities for people around the world. For example, the proceeds from a single t-shirt help buy mosquito netting, clean drinking water or a year’s education for underprivileged children in Third World countries. Or you could choose to donate money and have 25 trees planted to combat the effects of global warming.

SOS Children’s Villages. Jennifer Aniston helps to make life better for orphaned and abandoned child when she donates to SOS Children’s Villages. Now you can too. In addition to providing basic necessities like food, clothing, and education, the charity gives kids what they want most of all, a family.

Global Green. It is by far Brad Pitt’s favorite charity. The group uses donations to build eco-friendly homes for deserving families whose houses were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Tisbest.org. If you would like to donate money in the name of a loved one on your gift list but are unsure of what charity to choose you can purchase a charity gift card through tisbest.org. The person you give the card to can then choose from 200 different charities affiliated with the program to donate the funds.
