Celebrities On the Road To Recovery

Just 48 hours and counting until Regis Philbin returns to his regular spot on the talk show that made him famous… Philbin’s co-host Kelly Ripa announced that her “big daddy” would be back on the set of “Live with Regis and Kelly” on Thursday—six weeks after having triple bypass surgery.

And, if that wasn’t exciting enough (really… according to show producer Michael Gelman, tens of thousands of fans sent well wishes to “Reege” during his absence from the show) David Letterman will make a rare appearance as Philbin’s first guest.

The billing it fitting… after all, Philbin was a guest host on CBS’ “Late Show” after Letterman underwent heart bypass surgery in 2000. He also filled in for Letterman when the late night host was recovering from an eye infection in 2003. In addition, Philbin has made dozens of guest appearances on Letterman’s show in the past several years.

Another Hollywood star is also on the road to recovery, though he’s been battling a few road bumps along the way.

“Desperate Housewives” actor Jesse Metcalfe has just completed a stint in a rehab clinic and according to his publicist, the actor “is feeling great.”

Apparently, “great” may describe his health, but not his romantic life. According to PEOPLE magazine, Metcalfe and his girlfriend of a year Ireland’s Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle have ended their relationship.

The actor’s peeps wouldn’t elaborate on what caused the split, but wouldn’t deny rumors that the endless scrutiny the pair faced made life together difficult. There was also a report that Coyle was furious at Metcalfe for being spotted with a mystery woman.

She’s remained silent for a long time, but it seems Dina Matos McGreevey may slowly be healing after enduring a very public split from her estranged husband, former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey.

Matos McGreevey is just two weeks away from releasing a new book entitled “Silent Partner: A Memoir of My Marriage,” which she says will answer many of the questions people have been asking since McGreevey announced he was gay and was stepping down as governor.

“Silent Partner” is reportedly Matos McGreevey’s response to her ex-husband’s autobiography, “The Confession,” in which McGreevey wrote that he married Matos McGreevey for political gain. In her book Matos McGreevey fires back by describing McGreevey as self-absorbed and controlling.

We’ll see how well she’s recovered from her “nightmare” when she appears on Oprah next month.
