Celebrities Seeing Double

It looks like we may never know why Dennis Quaid decided not to sue the hospital responsible for employing the medical techs who nearly killed his newborn twins last year.

Then again, actions often speak louder than words.

It wasn’t until just recently that the actor spoke about the horrific incident with a reporter from the Los Angeles Times. In the interview he refused to answer questions regarding pending litigation that has been filed against the makers of heparin, the blood thinner that was inadvertently administered to Quaid’s newborn’s in massive doses. Rather, the actor said he wanted to focus on what life was like parenting twins.

Yesterday the actor told a room full of reporters gathered at a press event for his new action thriller, “Vantage Point” that his children are healthy and happy, though their parents are severely sleep deprived.

In addition to being extremely tired, the 53-year-old actor, who also has a son Jack Henry, 15, with ex-wife Meg Ryan, admitted that he struggles with another “twins’ issue”—-telling them apart.

“One’s wearing blue, the other one’s wearing pink,” Quaid joked. “But you’d still be surprised [with] people, because they don’t want to make a mistake, they go.’Oh, that’s the…a girl isn’t it?’”

Perhaps, Quaid should call on pro soccer all-star Mia Hamm for advice. The ultimate soccer mom and her pro baseball player husband, Nomar Garciaparra are also parents of twins.

The athletic couple has 10-month-old twin daughters Ava Caroline and Grace Isabella… and a system to keep on top of dueling naptimes.

“They sleep in different rooms right now,” Hamm told reporters of Ava and Grace. “So I have the monitor for one and he has one for the other. When my monitor goes off, I go. When his goes off, he goes.”

Other double dilemmas: Figuring out which crying baby to pick up first and juggling two squirming tots with one set of arms.

And if that wasn’t enough 35-year-old Hamm, who played on the U.S. women’s national soccer team for 18 years, says she is also currently training to run a half marathon.

Did I mention she is planning to do so with both babies strapped to her back? Just kidding, though I bet she could do it in a heartbeat.
