Celebrities Stepping Out of the Box

We know he can sing, but now fans will get to see if former “American Idol” contestant Chris Daughtry has what it takes to light up the small screen as an actor. The singer reportedly just signed on to guest-star on the 100th episode of CBS’s “CSI: NY.”

Joining Daughtry on the same anniversary episode will be Rumer Willis (Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter), Scott Wolf, Julia Ormand, actor-rapper Nelly and NFL star Marshall Faulk.

According to producers, the 100th show will air in November and will center on the pursuit of a serial killer who targets people named Mac Taylor – the name of the character played by the show’s star Gary Sinese.

Daughtry has reportedly been cast as Machiavelli Taylor. Producers describe his character as “an attractive 30-something year old musician.”

Meanwhile, tired of her charitable ways being questioned by those in the media Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills spent the weekend donating $1 million worth of soy hamburgers, soy hot dogs and soy chicken cutlets to one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York.

The vegan animal rights activist told the New York Post that she wanted to make sure kids living in the Bronx neighborhood of Hunts Point, which has some of the highest obesity and asthma rates in the city, “have as many nutritional advantages as anyone else.”

Finally, we know that she Gwen Stefani is great at multi-tasking being an award-winning singer, a mom of two young sons and a clothing designer. But even Stefani says she was shocked when the folks at W Hotels asked her to create an exclusive line of uniforms for female staff members.

The L.A.M.B. founder says she is putting on the final touches to the upscale work clothes that will be worn by staff at the luxe hotel chain’s Gerber bars in the W lounges throughout the country. According to Stefani, the new black jersey dresses combine a fitted ’80s silhouette and asymmetrical styling with ’60s seam detailing and side vents.

The singer turned fashion designer says that when she was sketching the uniforms, she knew they would have to not just look good, but also be functional for active employees. “I wanted to design a super cute dress that I would be excited to have in my own closet and approached it in the same way I think about my clothing for a tour,” Stefani says. “We’ve designed a sexy and comfortable outfit for these women to wear out on their own stage every night.”
