Celebrities Tightening Security

How much does it cost to erect a giant fence around your home or to live in a gated community? Given the amount of large fences surrounding the homes I live near I can’t imagine the price would bankrupt the average Hollywood celebrity, which is why I have a hard time comprehending how 80s pop star Debbie Gibson got herself in the following situation.

According to news reports, the “Shake Your Love” singer recently filed a restraining order against an alleged stalker who showed up at her house on more than one occasion. Police say Spaniard Bassas Jorge Puigdollers has repeatedly shown up at Gibson’s home and hotel rooms when the songstress is on the road.

Gibson told police that on one occasion Puigdollers knocked on her front door and then left a note for her when she refused to answer.

Police responded to Gibson’s residence but reportedly didn’t charge Puigdollers with a crime. (Which means he didn’t destroy a fence or any other property to gain access to her home.)

“That was crossing a line, so that was really scary,” Gibson recently told reporters. “I am a single female, so I reacted like anyone would and called 911.”

Huh?

Crossing the line to me is stepping foot on my property. Doesn’t this former pop superstar have enough money to buy a security gate? And how did this obsessed fan make it all the way to her front door?

Granted Gibson isn’t in the same league as Jennifer Lopez or Madonna who never leave home (or stay at home) without serious security detail surrounding them, but, geez, a couple of security cameras and a very high, locked gate might just be a wise investment. Especially when you consider that Gibson was named on murderer Robert Bardo’s fan list.

You’ll recall Bardo was convicted of shooting actress Rebecca Schaeffer at her Los Angeles home in 1989. The delusional sicko repeatedly stalked the actress and killed her when she answered the door.

Gibson insists to reporters that she has “excellent” security, but it can’t be that great if a stalker can walk off the street and gain access to her front door.
