It may have been the most documented first pregnancy since Princess Diana’s, and now it is finally over. According to several news sources, actress Naomi Watts and her actor boyfriend Liev Schreiber (finally) welcomed their first child, a baby boy, less than 48 hours ago.
The couple named their son, Alexander Pete Schreiber. The name Alexander is believed to be in honor of Schreiber’s grandfather, with whom he was close, and Pete is short for Peter–Naomi’s father. According to the actress’ rep, the newest member of the Schreiber clan was born in Los Angeles and weighed in at 8 lbs., 4 oz, and measured 22.5 inches.
In a previous blog I told you about the baby shower the couple hosted at their home just last weekend (talk about good timing). The pair reportedly told friends who attended the party that they had no clue what the sex of the baby was and wanted to be surprised on delivery day.
Thirty-eight-year-old Watts and 39-year-old Schreiber started dating in 2005, but have not announced plans to wed. I can’t imagine the actress would have time to plan a wedding at this point given that she now has a newborn and is scheduled to return to work in about 5 weeks.
One final note about the hoopla and intense media scrutiny surrounding Watts’ pregnancy: Interestingly, Watts’ due date was August 2nd, which means she delivered “early.” But if you were to believe any of the tabloids following her you’d think she carried the child for 11 months.
In not so exciting baby news, Britney Spears is making headlines again.
No, she’s not pregnant, but her “babies” (22-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month-old Jayden James) may be spending a lot less time with her.
According to several media outlets, the pop singer decided on a whim to hire a private jet and fly off to Las Vegas with her tots in tow a couple of days ago. The only problem… she didn’t inform the former Mr. Britney Spears, Kevin Federline. Reports say when Fed-Ex learned that Brit took off with the kids he went ballistic.
Sources say Spears’ impromptu trip violates California law as well as the child-custody agreement the couple signed, which states that neither parent is allowed to take a child across state lines without written permission from the other, or by obtaining a court order. PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that Spears took off with her brother and her kids and checked into a ritzy hotel off the Vegas strip. But less than 24 hours she checked out after her bodyguard allegedly scuffled with a photographer, accidentally hitting Sean Preston in the process. Oh, and did I mention that K-Fed demanded that Spears return to California with the children and has already threatened to take her to court regarding her violation of the court order.
Things don’t look good for the Brit-ster.
