Talk about being prepared! Olympian Kerri Walsh is attacking parenting the same way she does the volleyball.
The beach volleyball star hasn’t given birth yet, but she already found out the sex of her child, picked out a name and decorated the nursery.
Walsh recently revealed that she and her pro volleyball player husband Casey Jennings are expecting a son, and plan to name him Joseph Michael Jennings.
The statuesque star announced her pregnancy in December and is due to give birth by the end of the month.
The 30-year-old mom-to-be admits that she caved to pressure when it came time to find out the gender of the baby. Walsh says she had initially wanted to keep the baby’s sex a secret, but later changed her mind and found out on Christmas morning with the rest of her family.
According to Walsh, she had her doctor fill out a note revealing the baby’s gender. The Olympic gold medallist, then had her mom frame the note and place it in a gift bag. The couple then opened the present on Christmas morning in front of their family members.
“It was the last present we opened and the best, Walsh shares. “I was so overwhelmed, everyone freaked out.”
Fellow Olympian Shannon Miller has resisted finding out the gender of her baby-to-be.
The 32-year-old, who scored seven Olympic medals in gymnastics, recently found out that she is going to be a mom for the first time.
“My husband and I are so excited to begin the wonderful adventures of parenthood,” Miller told PEOPLE magazine. “We couldn’t be happier!”
The Olympic champ is married to prominent Florida Republican and businessman John Falconetti.
Meanwhile, the mystery has been solved for “Worst Week” star Erinn Hayes.
She and her husband Jack welcomed a second daughter, Lilah Grace Hayes, on Wednesday.
Little Lilah joins 2-year-old big sister Maggie.
